A series of unfortunate events....

Recently just before moving home from Pattaya to Bangkok I was burgled in my Pattaya home and lost my British passport , other important items, credit cards and a sizable cash sum.

I reported to Pattaya police the loss of my passport etc and also informed the British Embassy via the on line form. I was emailed  by the Embassy that my Brit passport was cancelled.

I went to Pattaya Immigration who checked my details on line which showed I am on retirement visa renewal so called. They said once I got the new passport  they could transfer my visa/renewal details to my new passport.

They said I must do that in Pattaya Immigration as that is where the visa/renewal arose even though I would then be living in BKK.

On the day of my actual move the situation was made considerably worse as I fell down some stairs in my Pattaya home, ripped muscles and instead of going with the removers I went to the hospital for emergency surgery.

I will be on crutches for some time. Lucky a relative has arrives in Thailand to assist.

In  Bkk I applied to trendy for a new Brit passport and I am told it could take 4-6 weeks.

 

I be greatly appreciative if Joe and any others could give their input upon the following questions;

 

1. Is it true once I get my new passport must I go to Pattaya to do the transfer details to my new passport  or can I do it in BKK?

 

2. Wherever it needs to be done- in view of my medical condition- can I send someone to do the transfer for me?

 

3. The lease on my place in Pattaya runs to the end of June so arguably I still live in Pattaya. As I have been doing my 90 day reports on line, can I do the same now even though my passport is cancelled?

And,

4. If not any suggestions?

 

5. when I reported the loss of my passport to Pattaya police I omitted to mention that included in the loss was form TM6 stapled inside my passport. What to do about that? Or can Thai immigration replace TM6 for me?

 

6. When I have the new passport and the transfer done I will report my new address to BKK? Does that some reasonable as my mobility is greatly restricted and my relative needs to go home soon.

 

7. Any other ideas or input that can assist me?

 

I am not going through a very happy time at the moment...

1. If you change you formaly change you address to Bangkok at Chaengwattana Immigration they will reinstate your stamps in your new passport.

2. If you have a letter from the doctor stating you cannot travel to immigration somebody could do if for you.

3/4. If you have not changed your address to Bangkok when your 90 day report is due you could do it online.

5. The will give you a new TM6 when the reinstate your stamps.

only takes a max of 2 weeks, usually less

That's for replacement Passports where the applicant has provided copies of his/her old Passport

 

As this is a lost/stolen Passport the process may take longer

Many thanks to Joe for the prompt and succinct answers. And I will be relying upon your advice.

 

I will be getting the doctors letter tomorrow.

 

May I ask you Joe or anyone else a supplementary question, namely about getting the change of address to Bangkok done at CW and (then) reinstating the stamps in the passport.

 

As its the case at CW I need to do the change of address first( I believe the same counter as 90 day) will that cause any problem as I will be presenting a new passport with no visa or other stamps in it?

Any input?
