Trump attacks report on FBI, saying in fact there was 'total bias'

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday a Justice Department inspector general's report that concluded there was no bias in how the FBI handled its investigation of Hillary Clinton's emails was wrong, saying there was "total bias."

"The end result was wrong," Trump said in an interview with Fox News Channel, adding that the inspector general "blew it."

"There was total bias when you look at (FBI staff member) Peter Strzok, what he said about me; when you look at (then-FBI Director James) Comey and all his moves."

The 500-page report by Inspector General Michael Horowitz found that Comey, who was later fired by Trump, made a "serious error of judgment" when he announced shortly before the 2016 U.S. presidential election that he was reopening an investigation into candidate Clinton's use of a private e-mail server.

But the report, released on Thursday, also concluded that the FBI's investigation was not tainted by political bias, even as it uncovered an email from Strzok to then-fellow FBI employee Lisa Page during the 2016 campaign saying Trump would not become president. "We'll stop it," he said in the email. [nL1N1TG0XR]

The findings have no direct bearing on a separate Justice Department special counsel probe on Russia's alleged interference in the election, and the possibility there was collusion between the Trump campaign and Moscow. [nL1N1TG0XR]

Trump, however, has used the findings on Strzok, who also worked on the Russia probe, to sow doubts about that investigation. "They were plotting against my election," Trump said in the Fox News interview, referring to people in the FBI.

Russia has denied that it interfered in the election. Trump has repeatedly said there was no collusion or attempt by him to obstruct the Russia investigation, and has called Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe a "witch hunt."

Despite his criticism of the inspector general's report, Trump presented the report's findings as vindication of his decision to fire Comey in May last year.

'GREAT SERVICE' IN FIRING COMEY

"The IG Report is a total disaster for Comey, his minions and sadly, the FBI," Trump said in a post on Twitter. "I did a great service to the people in firing him."

Initially when Comey was fired, the Trump administration presented the dismissal as related to his handling of the Clinton email probe. However, Trump later said that he had the FBI's Russia probe in mind when he dismissed Comey.

It was Comey's dismissal that led to the Justice Department appointing Mueller to take over the federal probe into Russian election meddling.

Comey defended his actions in an op-ed published in the New York Times after the report was released.

"In 2016, my team faced an extraordinary situation — something I thought of as a 500-year flood — offering no good choices and presenting some of the hardest decisions I ever had to make," Comey wrote.

Gross, flagrant bias by the FBI is apparent throughout the report.

Have you actually personally read every single page of it?

500 pages is the equivalent of a full length novel that would take most people 3 or 4 days to read if it was good and exciting.

So be honest and truthful here and confirm that you have read every single page, line and word, or not.

as Reporters here there are 7 words in a 500 page document that could be construed to support Donald’s point of view they could also be construed to mean we as in the opposition to Donald will defeat him in voting booth (we did)unfortunately not in the electoral college

"Despite Strzok’s extremely inappropriate texting — it’s wildly improper for someone in his position to express animus or favoritism toward a particular candidate — the inspector general found no evidence that Strzok acted on his text to Page".

“Our review did not find documentary or testimonial evidence directly connecting the political views these employees expressed in their text messages and instant messages to the investigative decisions we reviewed,” the IG report states".

"No. No he won't. We'll stop it," Strzok texted back.") that at FBI counterintelligence school!

Didn't find any "documentary or testimonial evidence. According to Wray,FBI director ,we will start teaching agents not to be bias. Why now! They were found not bias! Just because they don't have evidence of a paper trail obviously doesn't mean they weren't bias...

It's only the top officials involved ,not the rank and file that weaseled, unsuspectingly.

Comey,McCabe(second in command),Stroz( top official of counter intel).

Schummer said, six ways to Sunday the Intel agencies can get you.

Comey, the Insubordinate head of the entire FBI,  “You can call us wrong, but don’t call us weasels. We are not weasels,” Comey declared to the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. “We are honest people and....whether or not you agree with the result, this was done the way you want it to be done.”

It's worse than that.  klauskunkel is ridiculing the Asian way of speaking, substituting l for r and then r for l.

How did you come up with that assumption, Kersarr? There are no Asians referenced in the whole thread.

And thank you for extrapolating from the conduct of one FBI agent that "It was and still is an ongoing coup by the FBI and an executive branch weaponized by Barack Obama. It is aided and abetted by Hillary Clinton, the media and the Deep State (including Republicans)."

Many agents of the career professtional FBI ,not just Stroz  ( Stroz,Andy and Lisa Page) referencing  to Andy's office where the insurance policy(bias) was discussed . Also the FBI agents that worked with those 3 ."But the IG report tells us that it's Peter Strzok and it's Lisa Page, but it's also teams of agents and lawyers that are identified in this IG report, five of whom who have been referred to the Office of Professional Responsibility for their anti-Trump texts".

Here is a pretty good summary of the 500 page report.

The 500-Page Inspector General’s Report In 900 Words

My favorite part...

Quote

3. The report is vindication for Clinton

...

The report also basically confirms that she should not have been charged with any crime for email use. Of course, that doesn’t undo Comey’s actions, which may have cost Clinton the election.

All this talk of the FBI trying to get Clinton elected is just smoke. If anything, the FBI helped the reality TV con artist.

Apparently Strzek is so afraid of being held accountable for his obviously criminal acts that he has volunteered to testify before Congress without immunity and without invoking his 5th Amendment rights.

"The FBI agent who was removed from the investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential campaign for sending anti-Trump texts intends to testify before the House Judiciary Committee and any other congressional committee that asks, his attorney said in a letter made public Sunday.

Peter Strzok, who was singled out in a recent Justice Department inspector general report for the politically charged messages, would be willing to testify without immunity, and he would not invoke his Fifth Amendment rights in response to any question, his attorney, Aitan Goelman, said in an interview Sunday."

Good I'm very happy to see that he volunteered as oppose to being  subpoena . Hopefully all the other career professionals will be brought in front of the committee.. As mention in my PP

Nice attempt to ignore the significance of his offer. It's not that he's volunteered to appear. It's that he won't invoke the 5th Amendment and he will testify without immunity. Sounds like he's got nothing to be scared of. I predict that his testimony will be a debacle for the House Judiciary Committee Republicans.
