Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has shipped their TV from aboard to Bangkok. I was considering sending mine from the UK via air freight. I think the total cost is around

£120 door to door, but I assume I will have to crate it as well. Apparently it only takes 4-5 days. Has anyone else done this?

Thanks JS

Have you determined there would be no customs duty charged?  It might be more cost effective to buy a new unit here with local tuner and guarantee.  There is a good chance for damage in shipment even if all went well and probably very little chance parts would be available here for any fix.

Thanks Lop,

I have considered that so will put it in my wife's name who is a Thai national. We will say that as we are moving back to Thailand from the UK this is one of the things we are sending.

Thanks

Crossly really? That's interesting. Maybe I am better off doing that. I thought I would have to spend at least £500 for a decent TV, so if you are correct, I will follow your advice.

It all depends what you mean by "decent". TCL are at the low end of pricing, but you can get 32" from Toshiba, Sharp and LG for a little more, certainly in the same pricing point.

500 squid (25,000 Baht) will get you a 55" Samsung.

Great information guys much appreciated. I would only need a 32 or 37 inch tv so if I could pick up a good one for £400 I will not bother shipping one from here as mine is around 8 years old already.

Be aware most Thai no longer watch TV as smartphones are taking over life here big time (TV programs are available on phones if they have a must see).  You might want to check this website out for current prices on most anything in Thailand.  These are often independent sellers so have to price shop for item once you make up mind on models.
