When did a Thai give you the thumbs up and say 'verry good'

Its happened to me a couple of times in the last 2 weeks.

The first time I was stuck in traffic about to do a U-turn. I noticed a homeless guy standing on the path near the road staring at food for sale in an outdoor restaurant. I did the U turn and pulled over. Told the lady to do a takeaway box for the guy. Other people were waiting to be served as well and looked at me give the food to the guy. Many of them gave me the thumbs up and I got back in my car and was stuck in the next traffic light and a motorbike road past and gave me another thumbs up yelling out 'verry good'...

A few days after I was in a national park and noticed a dog that was in bad shape. I visited the closest restaurant and showed the photo. They gave a free bag of rice and I purchased some protein. After giving the food and watching him eat several cars drove past with the window down giving me the thumbs up.

I think its rewarding and gratifying to help out people and animals as much as one can. On the subject of dogs, if you see one thats in bad shape please take a photo and show the local vet. Pay for some medication and give to the dog daily. Ive done this many times and its easy to put an antibiotic tablet in a sausage. Most soi dogs have never had antibiotics and they respond so well to them.

cheers

I've twin boys (almost 18 months old) and many people point to them in malls, say/ask "fet" (twins in Thai) and give me the thumbs up.

As if i accomplished something, or like if it is a skill to get twins.

That would certainly be the case if it was paid for sex. They like effortless work.

Almost every time I'm in a cab and talking to the driver.  I tell them I've been here 10 years and invariably I get a thumbs up and a 'Very good'

Drained 2 birdie putts this morning over 20 feet. My caddie gave me a thumbs up on both. Do you think it's because I give her an additional 100 baht for every birdie I get?

My FiL gave me the thumbs up on the day I married his daughter...

Unfortunately, the message was clear as his index finger was also extended... 'Screw this up and you're toast'!!!

Kidding of course... But I do get a regular thumbs up when we both witness something amusing.

i occasionaly get 'thumbs up' from thais, when im seen picking up rubbish on my morning walks.....but, i more often get 'strange looks' from the thai people--- im sure they think im  crazy....

Every time some idiot comes through the village posting signs on all the electric poles, I go to the head of my soi and remove them even if I have to bring along my ladder to get the ones posted higher up and tied with wire. The lady on the corner of the soi always gives me a thumbs up. If I see trash in the street in front of someone's home I will wait until they are in their front yard and then go pick it up while they are watching so that they will feel a loss of face. Inevitably they will give me a thumb's up and then start cleaning in front of their homes. If they don't clean I will go back over and over again until they get the message. Somebody has to be the policeman on this soi or it will turn into a ghetto sooner rather than later.

Almost daily when I ride my unicycle through the subdivision.

Whenever I roll a cigarette by hand while smoking an e-cigarette at the same time while throwing darts at my connect 4.

My ex wife did when I told her I was leaving her and moving to bkk without her.

I often get the thumbs up when I'm out on my road bike, often by passing motorcyclists. They like to see us old guys stay fit, evidently.

Conform to the law of 3 x 3, do we? Three thousand, three inches and three minutes?

Vely Goose indeed!

normally a thumbs up from a thai woman means she is angry at you.

as for the OP! Did you write this to seek gratitude from fellow TV members? Seems that you are trolling for something other than your initial question.

I get the thumbs up regularly on my motorbike road trips when a large group of motor cyclists either

overtake me, or are riding in the opposite side.

When there are so many riders, some with passengers, together on motorbikes up in Isaan, they are

bound to be mostly, if not all the time, Thais, but then, they won't know I'm a farang.

He is probably secretly cursing you as you are not a newbie, and he cannot now take you

the long way so he can get more money from you.

A couple of weeks ago I had two panels on my truck re-sprayed and when I went to collect it the guy had sprayed them a different shade of silver, before I could say anything he gave me the thumbs up.

I bet they do. ?

I am a regular at a food stall in Jomtien beach road market. I patronize Mr Boom

who makes pad Thai to order. I bring my reusable plastic container whenever I go. No

plastic throwaway container, no plastic utensils, no plastic bag to hold it all.

Both he and his assistant smile and both have commented, "very good" saves them

and makes me feel at least I am trying. I am happy they notice and know why I do it.

That said, it has yet to catch on.

congratulations - you have learned one of the secrets of a happy life...

I cannot give you a thumbs up or very good at this distance... but this is even better...

Thanks.

I often attract attention and get "very goods"/thumbs up when I'm out and about sketching in Chiang Rai province.

A motorbike loaded with an easel and pastel colours/charcoal seems to draw a bit of curiosity from people.

Even with a full face helmet and gloves?

every time I start a long speech in Thai, when I finish it and the Thai ask me,

Jop leo?

Tchy Jop leo!

He thumbs me up with a big sigh of relief

After I snapped my third drill bit I exclaimed 'allai wah' and all the Thai builders gave me a thumbs-up...after they all stopped laughing.

Good on ya, OP, sometimes you have to tell your good deeds.
