Hello,I am a British passport holder,i have a retirement/extension of stay visa and a re-entry permit,i'm going back to the U.K. and want to get a new passport when i'm there. What happens when I come back to Thailand at Bangkok airport,i would think that it would be straight forward, but you never know.

Thanks for your time in advance.

You will show both passports to use the re-entry permit in your old passport. Immigration will stamp your entry in your new passports.

Then you will need to go to immigration to have your stamps transferred to your new passport.

Something else which you should bear in mind is that a misleadingly-titled Embassy "visa transfer" letter will probably be a prerequisite to Immigration proving willing to transfer your existing stamps from old to new passports. For further info on how to obtain this letter, click on:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/notarial-and-documentary-services-for-Thailand

then scroll down to the section titled "Transferring your Thai Visa for replacement passports".

EDIT: Might be better to copy and paste the weblink rather than clicking on it!
