June 25, 20187 yr Hi I got a 2012 mirage. Can it run E20 or E85 unmodified? What fuel gets me best economy in baht/kilometer terms? If i cant run ethanol fuel as stock should i modify it? And disadvantages? How about LPG? will it damage the valves or can i make some modification so that doesnt happen Friend is using this for driving Grab taxi so fuel cost should be kept to minimum
June 25, 20187 yr Post 1986 Mitsubishi's motors have/can run on E10 so a 2012 may run OK on E20 dunno about E85 I doubt it, look in the fliging handbook.
June 25, 20187 yr And there is no sticker inside the tank cap? I have a Mazda 2 built in 2011 that is specified for E20. I remember that most cars at the time were prepared for E20. E85 ("flex fuel")? Hard to say. In the years after more and more cars came with flex fuel option. Nowadays more or less standard. There are retrofit control units to enable E85 which work on/influence motor control. Cost: quite obvious that LPG (after retrofit) would be cheapest. Why else would so many minivans and taxis run on LPG. Whether you want to take the risk of a botched retrofit is another topic. You might find this article interesting from 2012 about E20 mentioning savings for the Mitsubishi Mirage: http://www.nationmultimedia.com/business/PTT-trying-to-promote-E20-gasohol-to-drive-demand-30186889.html

June 26, 20187 yr From the OP -How about LPG? will it damage the valves or can i make some modification so that doesnt happen No mods required. Advise you to go one heat range colder on spark plugs, and use Iridium centre electrode. More $$$ but last longer Our town car has been on LPG since new. Over 200,000 KM. No damage. And cost per km is half that of 95, which the engine requires.
June 26, 20187 yr It could use E10 (91 or 95), 95 benzene or E20. Not E85 as far as I know. I use E10(95) as I seem to get slightly better mileage than 91 or E20 (in my swift). I think lpg isn't worth it unless you are doing many kms per year.
