Wonderful! Video shows the moment 99 year old Swiss man is reunited with Thai wife

A video shared on social media shows the moment a 99 year old Swiss was reunited with his Thai wife who he had not seen for three years.

On Monday, Thaivisa reported on Swiss man Emile Georges Jean-Petit-Matile, 99, who had arrived at Suvarnabhumi last Friday in search of his estranged wife.

Emile had told tourist police officers at the airport of his wish to locate his wife and see her one last time before he died. Officers duly took up the case and said they would try to locate Emile’s wife, who has since been named as Krajang Kluboon.

Emile revealed that the pair had been married for twenty years but lost contact when he was forced to return to Switzerland for medical treatment three years ago.

The only information Emile had about his wife was an address on Koh Phangan where he believed she might be staying.

Officers at Suvarnabhumi contacted their counterparts in Surat Thani who began searching Koh Phangan for Krajang.

It turned out the address Emile had given officers was incorrect, but locals managed to point them in the direction of an elderly Thai lady who was living in a nearby property who they said was once married to a farang.

The lady was indeed found to be Emile’s wife, who was reported to have shed tears of joy on hearing that her Swiss sweetheart was looking for her.

On Monday afternoon the pair were finally reunited and footage shared to Facebook showed the moment the Krajang met Emile as he arrived on Koh Phangan.

Now despite the fact that this story leaves more questions than we have answers - such as after 20 years of marriage, could the couple have not at least called one another just once in the three years Emile was back in Switzerland. Are they not on Facebook? Or Line? - we’re not going to let facts get in the way of a good love story like this one!

Congratulations Emile and Krajang!

Lovely story, Nice and refreshing to hear she was happy to be reunited and make his last days a happy send off.

I wonder if she remarried since they were apart twenty years and there was no communication or financial support.

I hope he can stay in Thailand now.

What a complete and utter nonsense.
Being married for 20 years - and he hasn't got her address?!
Probably the ONLY reason for 'his bride' to reunite is the fact that he is <deleted> soon...

Give him/them a break OK?

He is from a time before modern media and just maybe isn't into Facebook or phones.

Was with her for a lifetime, then got sick at 96?

Then came back.

Happy for them!

Bloody Hell, they were apart 3 years, can't you read English. They were married for 20 years and he went back home 3 years ago for medical reasons.

God some of you lot can be nasty. Think about it, the guy's 99 and they've been married for 20 years, so he was around 79 when he married her.  How many 79 year olds have Facebook or Line?  He may well have had her phone number and it may well not have worked.

At 99 I doubt he's 100% lucid and probably doesn't use the internet so trying to contact of find his wife would have been extremely difficult. We also don't know how long his illness lasted.  At 99 years old the guy has travelled to Thailand, gone to the police and asked for their assistance to find his wife - sorry but that's a hell of a feat for a 99 year old in my book.

No need for so much negativity!

Exactly,

He was about 96 when he left, and had a medical problem. Who knows if he even had time to pack, or make sure he had her contact info with him. He may not be a computer wiz, having been born around 1919. Dementia is quite common in that age group, as well. He may not have been able to just pop his smartphone open and slide into her DMs.

I can imagine the Thai lady thinking oh nice he's 79, ripe pluckings, but then the happy bugger just keeps on ticking 20 more years. Brilliant fella.

some good news

There are a number of TVF members for whom English is not a first language, Mate.

I don't know, the guy is pretty old - maybe has no idea how to use E mail, and not that long ago up here in Chiang Mai, we had absolutely NO Telephones in our entire village (over 5 years)

When I was back in the UK a few years back I set up Gmail, Skype and Facebook for my mother (she is an extremely sprightly creature of 80) After I left, she has not even tried to use one of these methods to communicate. A lot of the older generation just will not touch this stuff.

Happy ending.

Agree that many older people just fell off the technological wheel at some point. My father is 90, no e-mail even, send everything through my sister. Still get and send cards though. In this particular case exacerbated by language problems too, I expect. Communicating face-to-face is one thing, communicating over a distance is another.

Free trip!

I wonder if only old people find this story nice ?!

How ridiculous is it ? Only retarded cannot find each others anywhere in the world in 2018 !

And don't tell me that the excuse to be an idiot is being old, because of course they do not know anybody who could have helped them find each others ?!

What a horrible thing to say. sick sense of humour, degenerating.

Hoping they’ll celebrate his 100th birthday and have all the joy and happiness! He’s happy and we all should wish them well!
