Both my freezers have drain holes. Can you not see the flexability of a device that you can regulate from -18 to +40, you are in charge. If you cannot see this, I am sorry I have tried to explain the best I can.

I think you have lost the plot. Go back and read my posts I fully understand and agree with the idea but there can be problems --

There can be two problems when converting chest freezers to fridges -

1. Condensation drainage.

2. Cold zones that can freeze and break bottles.

Maybe read up on the subject instead of spouting such nonsense.

They will go as high or as low as your cooling device can handle, I have just bought another freezer that if left alone will go from 0* to -18, but thanks to my regulater I have it set at +16. You will always find a freezer usefull, but a drinks cabinet?

A large fridge with glass doors would always be useful in my house.....

A little knowledge is dangerous I suggest you read up before making a complete ass of yourself

Again.

Cold zones are created near to the evaporator coils on the inside of the freezer which can fall well below freezing even if the control point is set to say +7. This can be overcome by installing circulating fan.

My freezer has no drain off holes so any build up of condensation would puddle in the bottom.

My fridge on the other hand which operates at around +5 has condensation drain.

5?  Way too warm for beer or even meat/produce.  British by chance?

Like I said my fridge is at +5 no mention of beer. Actually I am dual Thai/European which means I can tolerate ice in my beer.

5c is a good temp for sauerkraut; not much else.  Carrier brought refrigeration to Thailand in 1936...might be about time to read up on it.

The wife likes to keep the stuff in our fridge at around 5 C and there's a large quantity. Surprise! its not sauerkraut.

Samsing says 3c as default setting in the US.  Tiger Beer says serve at 36F, so does Michelob.

yup.
thats why I'm looking for a second hand one.
i cannot see the point in her spending at least 14k on a fridge when the venture has a great likelihood of failing.

If a THAI can't find a second hand one, what chance a farang boyfriend? I'm assuming you are paying the set up costs, so just tell her that you'll give her 5,000 baht for a second hand fridge and don't pay more. It's her business, so it's up to her to do the work to set it up.

I'm glad you recognise that the business may fail. When people have a source of funds that doesn't need to be repaid, they tend to be not as dedicated as when it's their own money on the line.

Regular fridges are much cheaper than 14k (new). A glass door fridge is a much more premium item generally, so doubt you'll find many second hand bargains. Since you have a realistic attitude to the likelihood of things succeeding, I'd recommend you throw as little money at this venture as possible. If you want to create ambience, go with light bulbs.
