BANGKOK, 12th July 2018 (NNT) - A deputy prime minister has assured the public that the Election Commission will be able to work even if not all new members are confirmed by the legislature.

Vice President of the National Legislative Assembly Surachai Liengboonlertchai said on Wednesday that members of the legislature are tasked with carefully verifying the background of all candidates vying for a seat on the EC in order to ensure that all elections will be fairly and transparently organized.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam added that the NLA’s decision to review the EC candidates on Thursday may not end with all seven members confirmed.

However, Mr. Wissanu stated that the EC will still function even without all seven members in office because the existing team will still be able to continue doing their jobs until their successors are ready.

Just putting into place a few safety nets...

If all else fails, delay the election because the vetting of the EC members wasn't done correctly..

Liars liars liars..

Am I the only person whos skin crawls every time this despicable human being speaks?

As the EC is just an extension of General Prayut, he's the only one that is needed.

Prayut could appoint seven army privates as new members of the EC - no one in the government would nor could care.

Which is just as well as the current members are already serving illegally according to the Constitution and the EC Selection Committee. Their terms have ended and none are qualified according to the NLA to serve.

But what's a trivial thing like a constitution to stand in the way of an election?
