Video: Drug crazed pick-up driver and drunk taxi driver and passenger attack each other on Sri Nakharin Road

Video footage that was widely shared on Thai social media showed a broad daylight fight between a pick-up driver with a box cutter and a taxi driver and his passenger in full view of other motorists on Sri Nakharin Road on Thursday.

All are either in police custody or recovering in hospital.

The pick-up driver was on Ya Ba and the taxi driver was drunk.

The video followed on from road rage incidents earlier in which taxi driver Uthen Khamkrathoke, 40, started tailgating Pakkhaphon "Man" Soongsak, 37, in a pick-up.

Uthen and his passenger Mongkhon Nonngam, 41, took offence when the pick-up driver stared at them. Loud music was blaring from the taxi, said Prawes police explaining the incident.

When the two vehicles were stopped in traffic the taxi driver and his passenger got out and knocked on the window of the pick-up.

Pakkhaphon got out holding a box cutter and a fight ensued. The passenger ended up in hospital after suffering a serious and deep wound on the head that exposed his skull.

The taxi driver was cut on the lip but not seriously. There was a lot of blood.

Yesterday Pakkhaphon was retrieved from the cells to face questioning. He admitted Ya Ba use and this was confirmed in a urine test.

He has been charged with drug offences, serious assault and carrying a weapon in a public place.

The other two are in hospital. When they emerge they will both be charged with assault.

The taxi driver is also set to be charged with drunk driving, said Prawes police.

Only when on drugs or booze do they see just how bad their driving really is.

Good luck to both sides...

Ah; another day in Paradise !

a match made in heaven..

Both unable to drive a Vehicle on public roads.
Both 100% unsuitable in public passenger Transport.
Hopefully this bad apples will be sorted out and forced to look for another job that has nothing to do with public transport.

But doubtless not a brain cell.

Looks like the usual "Handbags at dawn".

"Uthen and his passenger Mongkhon Nonngam, 41, took offence when the pick-up driver stared at them."

I recall my primatology field studies prof reminding us to never make eye contact with our subjects. It is perceived as a threat among other species of primates.

Ever heard of death by meth overdose?  It's possible,  but improbable. Unlike alcohol.

Sure chronic user can lose the plot,  but the damage they do is minute,  compared to drunk brawlers and drunk drivers.

And it is now EVERYWHERE.

In some western nations they measure its rising consumption in the city waste water systems.

And yet the world is not falling apart,  except in the Philippines, aparrently.

Try some drug science, instead of the lame myths the media feed us.

Hopefully a few months staring at steel bars will give them time to work out something. ??

Try life without any drugs I'd say was a good alternative.

Would agree with the eye contact comment.

Drove in Cairo for over 10 years. Enjoyed it immensely. Too much traffic to really be a dangerous place to drive, but, so easy to wind up the local drivers. Their need to butt in when obviously in the wrong lane (on the odd occasion when lane discipline was being adhered to) was second to none. Just ignore them, stare straight ahead and keep going. Any eye contact made and chances are the helpful instinct comes into play, particularly when it's obvious they are getting a tad angry!! Very useful to only drive an older, slightly battered, car. I ain't stopping in that. A new car, well that usually means a less aggressive driving style. Never had a bash, but Pyramids Road was a bit of a nightmare at times.

I wouldn't want to see them driving without their drugs of choice.

O you can spot a hard core meth user. For starters no teeth as they develope meth mouth which is rotting of the teeth. Also skin issues, yes meth doesn't kill them usually aids.

Yaba means translated crazy drug.
Alcohol and cigarettes are certainly more important as a mass drug in absolute terms. But intense Yaba usage makes the addicts extremely aggressive and also Zombie like behavior is observable. Anxiety, Paranoia and total cognitive brain failure are observable.

Why does the TV news show the same 10 second of unclear video repeatedly? Do they really think people here are so stupid they need to watch it ten times to understand it? Oh, just answered my own question.

Just another normal day here in Thai

500 baht fine a wai and they'll be back out on the roads next week!!

Most cities have traffic jams with cars buses lorries etc. Cairo throws in camels horses donkeys sheep potholes and beggars. Well it did in the 80's.

Yep, the 80's were interesting as well.

Although driving around Cairo, as well as Alexandria and the north coast, in a Landrover made it less of a chore. Donkeys are certainly best to be avoided as our construction manager found out near Hammam on his last night in country after taking good care of his L/rover for 3 years. A mile short of the camp and wrote off the donkey , luckily with no injury to himself but a rather badly damaged L/rover.

It's called Xerostomia (lack of saliva), which can be a side effect from numerous medicines.

A Box cutter what a Sissy , he needs to have a machete or samurai sword

Thailand , land of better not smile to anyone!

How much of this crap would you see if they just pulled on a bong, zero is my guess.
