The Boeing 777 is reported to have veered off the runway during landing but was steered back onto the runway by the pilots. The plane had burst six tyres according to newsinflight.com. TG321 landed around 12.18pm with 145 passengers – all unhurt, SN Wahidur Rahman, deputy director of Special Air Traffic Control, told The Daily Star. He said, the Dhaka-bound flight coming in from Bangkok informed the traffic control tower of the burst wheel moments before landing (according to the Daily Star). Last reported, all the passengers were safely evacuated from the plane and the runway was kept shut for three hours, causing delay in take-off and landing of some planes. AVHERALD Would have been surprising if the tires burst while in the air and how could the pilot know? "Emergency landing" is a misleading headline as it implies there was an emergency before landing. It was planned to land in Dhaka and so it happened. Different reason possible, but might well have a been a faulty/damaged strip, debris. Or an exceptionally hard touchdown triggered by the rain? The tyre monitoring system on the 777 is accurate enough that he would have know the condition before landing. Had he known, he would have informed the passengers and had them prepared, he didn't, so I guess that they burst on landing. My guess, based in this very limited reporting evidence, is that the tyres burst on landing, due possibly to a heavy landing in wet and windy conditions. 2 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The standard procedure for an emergency landing is to dump fuel to have the proper weight for the correct landing or the tires are in danger of bursting and among other reasons .Sounds like he had a blown tire on take off (could have been informed via the departing airport) and further the possibility of tire burst by not dumping fuel .Don't know why he reported an emergency other then a blown tire upon take off .The site "Flight Aware" will have the particulars in about 10 days. It rather sounds like the routine scheduled landing was in appalling conditions and the plane ran off the left side of the runway and burst the tyres on something sharp on this deviation, the pilots might have misjudged the runway centreline due to poor visibility during the approach?
