Sure does ,i death seems to stop most people from doing most things, but the death penalty did not stop him,and  does not stop others all research indicates and this case proves, but it does make people like you feel better so it has some redeeming value. IMO making you feel better is not worth the down side.

No it was not, it never stooped him from doing it.

No, but it has certainly stopped him from ever doing it again.  We all hear of "life imprisonment" being given as an alternative punishment for a serious crime, but in many countries, in practice it hardly ever means that literally and the prisoner is often released early for one reason or another.  Not all, of course, but many then go on to commit another serious crime, with a member of the public being the (often) totally innocent victim.  

 

Protection of the public should  be the authorities' prime concern, which has to mean that either the death penalty has to be retained OR, alternatively, "life" must mean "life".  One would have thought that life imprisonment would cost the tax-payer much more, but, somehow, the previous methods of administering the death penalty, which used to be extremely low, have been replaced by supposedly more humane methods, which just happen to cost millions.   Exactly how a lethal injection ends up costing millions is unclear.

If he was Thai and did it in Thailand he would be out in five and studying to be an arborist or a gunsmith. Good on you US for putting theses creeps down.

You can get statistics to say anything if you ask the questions the right way. The fact is that he will NEVER get the chance to do anything like that again (which in my book is a good thing). As far as I am concerned China has got the right idea. Apart from anything else I begrudge the fact that he lived for over 30years after committing this horendous crime at tax payers expense. It just not seem fair it should have happened 30 years ago.!!!
