A very big, detailed map of Pattaya

Featured Replies

After years of partying in Bangkok and other parts of Thailand, I finally decided to check out Pattaya and I am just amazed that I didn't visit much sooner.

Anyway, I've been looking online for a big and detailed map of Pattaya but the maps I've found are just okay.

Does anyone know of an online map of Pattaya that is very detailed?

Many thanks.

Thanks for the link.   I've actually seen that map and it's the best that I've found but the quality could be so much better.    (A good pdf file, for example, would allow for magnification without everything breaking up.)

Nevertheless, thank you very much for your helpfulness.

For learning the topology (road network) there is hardly anything to beat the well know online map/navigation sites (Google Maps, HERE ...).

Two typical views to start from:

https://www.google.com/maps/@12.930848,100.8792843,19z

https://her.is/2Ds7166

Google also covers the very most of roads/alleys (Sois) with Street View and quite up-to-date.

Do you search for a more tourist like map with points of interests? (as seen in above posts)

Do you want to print it?

Do you want to locate postal addresses (big headache)?

...

thanks for your suggestions; it's super late here now so i'll check them later but you're probably right: Google maps is hard to beat.

No, I don't want to print it but I want to be able to store it on my phone or iPad so I can magnify the map without having the image quality go to pieces.

Many thanks!

No problem with both when online.

HERE is fully offline capable. The full Thailand map is downloaded once (750 MB).

Updates from time to time.

Google Maps offline capability is somewhat limited. Best used online only.

If you compare Google and HERE you will soon learn about the naming muddle.

Sois have nicknames that are used casually (Soi Post, Soi Yamato, Soi Honey...)

Roads are either named by their English translation (North Pattaya rd., Central rd., South Pattaya rd.) or by transcript of the Thai name (Pattaya Nuea rd.,

Pattaya Klang rd., Pattaya Tai rd.).

"3rd rd." or "Chalermprakiat".

HERE even uses "Sainueng" for Beach road (confusing).

Adding to the muddle is the chaotic variation of transcripts/spellings.

Soi Bua Khao: at least three frequently used spellings and I have a collection of about 20 spellings some of them just absurd.

KhunBENQ, thank you very much for your suggestion.    I had never heard of HERE before you mentioned it and the fact that the entire Thailand map can be downloaded is awesome!

Many, many thanks for your excellent comments!

Here maps like mentioned above are very good especially if you need it offline.

Another one I like is Nostra. Garmin uses it as their GPS map I believe.

The android app is available free from the Google Play site. It can only be used on line though.

I made a quick and dirty map of Pattaya using screen shots from Google Maps.    For those who are familiar with Pattaya, it won't be of any use but for newbies like me, I think it'll be a helpful crutch until I get used to where things are.

You can find and download the map here:   https://imgur.com/iLgEM5f

And when I say big, it's damn big.    The dimensions are 7,804 x 10,219 pixels at 72 dpi.

I'll put the image file on my iPad mini and expand it when I need more detailed info as I walk around.

thanks!     (since it's a map from 2016, may i assume that some of the bars are now gone but that the sob stories are the same?)
