Hi all, quick question : does anyone know of an insurance ombudsman in Thailand or a lawyer specialising in health insurance claims?  My insurance recently rejected a claim by me for coverage for an emergency operation while I was outside of the area of coverage.  My insurance covers me in Asia and only for emergencies when travelling outside.  The reason they have given me is that it was pre-existing or at least the symptoms were pre-existing before I left.  This is not at all the case - I had no idea of any problem and I don't understand how they can claim otherwise.

Any pointers gratefully received!

Check your policy, there will be a procedure outlined for disputes. Follow that. If you don't, they can stick to the denial and declare your dispute invalid since you did not follow proper and agreed upon procedures.
