Students ask Prayut to cancel student conduct regulations

Creating new restrictions in an area of human conduct that MUST and is largely acceptably governed by traditional modes of compliance is pure hubris.

There are so many necessary areas for compliance of behavior that demand honest, practical enforcement and are for reasons unknown, left to be real open sores on the public welfare and wellbeing.  How about enforcement of laws pertaining to driving regulations...fairly applied. How about the inspection of the facilities used by tourists and the revocation of permits to operate for those who do not provide safe venues?

A lot of trouble coming in Thailand if this legislation is not revoked immediately.

The only thing that is "revoked" in the Kingdom is the right of people to govern themselves, plus free speech, plus a decent education ad infinitum ad nauseam........... :post-4641-1156693976:

Well said!  Your ideas will save countless lives, make the roads less dangerous and the horseshit could be used to grow healthy food. Thailand, the SEA Quaker Land.  Well done, Mr. P. I love the idea that all students refuse to go to school until the little one leaves his position and crawls back where he came from. If all students would demonstrate in Bangkok, will the tanks come? History repeats itself. ?

This is all part of the Junta's Fun-Sucking agenda of control; on an almost daily basis there is a new rule, regulation, guideline, etc whereby Thais are being ordered how to behave.

"...The union found the prohibition of public gathering too broadly defined and may be aimed at taking away their freedom to express political ideas or organise political rallies. .."

Of course it is designed to take away the right of student protest; that is a threat to the Junta's reign. Yes, the prohibitions against sex get the headlines, but it is the removal of the freedom to demonstrate which is the aim.

"...Education Ministry spokesperson Karun Sakulpradit promised the regulation would never be used for political ends.

He said public gatherings in the regulation did not include political expressions or actions, but target students engaged in brawls, speed racing and drugs.

“The regulation will not be twisted [to achieve political purposes]. It is not a political agenda,” he confirmed..."

"It is not a political agenda". Hmm...

Well, if you cannot trust the word of a Thai State Official, who can you trust?

This is a sad time to observe events in Thailand. Thais are like the proverbial frog in the pan of cool water, but whose temperature is starting to rise and eventually will boil the life out of them.

Thai people are generally good people and deserve better than this.

At present I'm back overseas..... In TV there show "Hunger Games ". Just fiction of course

'“What if public gatherings are interpreted to include expression of [political] ideas, how can students like us express our opinions about the government and the Education Ministry?” asked Parit.'

Try doing what you're supposed to be doing - studying.
So when you were young you never questioned the opinion of other people?

Students are an interesting group. Normally they have the ability to stay well informed, can communicate with each other far more effectively than older adults, passionate about their convictions, and still expecting to make a difference and save (or change) the world. Upset or offend them and watch the fireworks start. They don't have that much to lose and often consider it a badge of honor to be penalized by "the man".

This could be fun!
