Frenchman and his Thai wife sold a Pattaya man's pick-up after taking it for a test drive

Featured Replies

Let a couple of strangers drive off in my car? I don't think so. Especially knowing the kind of riff-raff, n'er-do-wells, and assorted losers, tossers, and deviants, that so often wash up here.

  • Jail them till they remember.  He's giving us farangs a bad name.

  • For 75000 you also want a blue book??

  • Good detective work by the Police, traced them from Pattaya,to Isaan, then finally to Krabi, I expect the crooks never thought the Police would bother to go to all this trouble to find then,

Might have been a bargain no one could refuse, but when it comes to taxing it there will be a ploblem, thats if they the new owner does that stuff..

My thought is they sold it to someone they know, perhaps her family...If so easy to find..

Tax ? Go and wash your mouth out, whatever next ? driving safely ?

Are both charged? What about the guy receiving stolen property?

is he going to say he had no idea it was stolen for 75k?

The man (Honest) with the pick-up should turn himself IN. What a great deal a pick-up for $75,000. The story is most likely in the newspapers.

Well I hope the French guy and his bird get prosecuted for theft, plus pay the guy the asking price of his truck...And stay in prison until they come up with the cash....☺️

I assumed you needed a green book to sell it.unless you know it is nicked.not very smart as you will be caught.i would never buy the vehicle without checking and the book with it.

Wonder which of the dynamic duo came up with that brilliant plan?

not a farang.

" Albert Bachtoula Cherif "

Bastard, gives all the French of arabic origin a bad name...

Police work was great, too bad it doesn't happen this well on some of the high profile cases. Guess the Frenchman didn't have enough money to make the case stall, then finally just fade away........like a LOT of cases we all know about.

Who in their right mind would trust a couple of complete strangers to test drive their car alone without accompanying  them?  A little bit naïve me thinks...

me thing a normal Thai.

Arrest the person who knowingly bought stolen goods as well. 75,000 for a Ranger is an obvious sign something weird is going on.

Hello I deal in stolen vehicles, do you have the blue  Book for that? I can imagine the buyer saying  just that?

Sometimes you can do a good buy in LOS.

The other day I was offered a 1/2 Baht (8g) gold ring for only 2000 Baht....?

Sadly it was not my size ......?

If it sound to good to be truth it newer is....
(Which also is the case for many Thai woman)

So far the best reply this week.

75,000 for a Ford ranger  ? Can they prove that ridiculous story  or did Thai visa forget a zero ( 750,000 ) ?

Either way that pick-up will be over the border by now

75000....Engine for 40,000, gearbox, diff, body parts seats etc. Breaking value worth more than 75000....if the purchaser has any sense the car will have been stripped and parts sold on by now.

Certainly lends support for the new law requiring criminal background checks for marriage visa applicants.

New law? I needed a criminal background document to get married 16 years ago.
