  • I don't believe that to be the case.  Why should they be if the overstay is beyond their control?

  • How would it be out of their control? They could make arrangements to get an extension at immigration. If person is involved in court case there is even extensions allowed for that reason.

  • By the police taking his passport to immigration so that he can apply for it. It has been done.

It's really so sad that you don't know what "gospel" means.  It's a synonym for truth, or accuracy, nothing whatsoever to do with "the gospels"!

While you get a perfect score in vocabulary, claiming the word has "nothing whatsoever" to do with the biblical gospels earns you a failing grade in diachronic linguistics.

The word gospel, which comes from the Old English god spel, "good news," has been used to describe something that is thought to be as true as the biblical gospel (that is, undeniably true) since the 13th century.

The current idiom "gospel truth" or "taken as gospel" originated in the1600s, when it referred to biblical truths, and has been applied to truth of a more general nature since the late 1800s.

Relax JW...just some light-hearted banter! ?

In the context of my comment the word does have nothing, whatsoever, to do with the gospels.  And, thanks, but there was no need for you to copy and paste the definition for me!

And as far as diachronic linguistics is concerned, that is the study of language change through history, I get more marks than you as the use of "gospel" as an idiom in this context is unconnected to historical linguistics.

So relax.

What's the relevance of the US please?

No relevance to any of your constant baiting comments you constantly make towards others.  But it has the same relevance as US or many other countries simply saying that just because one is incarcerated they may not be relieved of fines and penalties.  It is common in many countries

It isn't a different division, immigration is a part of the Royal Thai Police as a whole. You are the one who doesn't understand how an organization works. So SAD

A baiting post has been removed. Time to end the off topic bickering.

And now some more. When I wrote the message about the bickering I meant all of the ongoing bickering.
