Report Thai-US Tariff Deal Hits Snag as Vietnam Charges Forward in Talks
Pictures courtesy of The Nation via The Thaiger Thailand's bid for a breakthrough tariff agreement with the US has stumbled, causing concern among officials and exporters. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira revealed on July 4 that despite extensive discussions in Washington, a definitive deal has not yet been reached. During a visit to South Korea, Pichai described the ongoing negotiations as "constructive but unfinished," promising continued efforts to secure mutual benefits. The Thai delegation, known as "Team Thailand," engaged with US policymakers and investors to foster a beneficial agreement. Meanwhile, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) raised alarms over Thailand's waning competitive edge. FTI Chairperson Kriengkrai Thiennukul highlighted Vietnam's recent deal with the US, dropping its export tariffs to 20%, while Thailand remains at 36%. “This puts Thai exporters at a disadvantage,” Kriengkrai warned, urging for a competitive tariff rate and suggesting exploring new markets if talks falter. He stressed the importance of political stability and protecting local businesses from cheap imports. Adapted by ASEAN Now from [source] 2025-07-07 -

Non-O Marriage Visa Run
I think you're a bit mixed y up, all that consulate in the world are online application process only. You go to the country whose Thai consulate you want to apply thru, you upload your application, documents, proof you're in the country, pay and then wait for them to email you the PDF eVisa. Both Vientiane and Savannakhet will issue the 90 day single entry non o visa based on marriage (with proof you have 400k) in just a few days, often only one day after you go to the consulate and pay for the visa (which you do after you apply at that consulates) Keep in mind you can only get 90 day single entry non o for marriage now, they discontinued year long, multiple entry. -

Accident Death of Suki Restaurant Worker After Motorbike Plunges into Irrigation Canal
Picture courtesy of Workpoint. A female restaurant employee was found dead on the morning of 6 July, after veering her motorcycle off a sharp bend and plunging into an irrigation canal in the Si Maha Phot Industrial Estate, Prachinburi province. Police from Si Maha Phot Station, along with volunteers from the Mangkon Prachin Rescue Unit, were called to the scene at around 06:20, following reports of a fatal crash involving a motorbike. The incident occurred near a factory within the estate. Officers found a Yamaha Filano motorbike lying on its side in a shallow canal. The edge of the road barrier nearby showed signs of damage, suggesting the bike had hit the barrier before falling in. Around 200 metres from the motorcycle, the body of a woman was discovered lying face-up in the water with abrasions on her body. She was later identified as an employee at a well-known suki restaurant in the area. According to a friend of the deceased, the group had been drinking and socialising the night before. At around 03:00, the woman, reportedly intoxicated, called her husband for help as she felt unfit to ride home. The husband, unable to fetch her himself, contacted a friend to assist, but they were unable to locate her. Hours later, her body was discovered on her usual route home through the industrial estate. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination at Sri Maha Phot Hospital. Authorities noted that the bend where the crash occurred is notorious for accidents due to its sharp curve. An investigation is ongoing, but police suspect the combination of alcohol and road conditions contributed to the fatal crash. Adapted by Asean Now from Workpoint 2025-07-07
