BANGKOK, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese mainland tourists to Thailand dropped 11.77 percent in August compared with the same month last year, according to Thailand's Ministry of Tourism and Sports statistics.

The ministry said that some 3,228,595 foreign tourists visited Thailand in August, which marked a 3.04 percent increase when compared with the same month last year.

These foreign tourists contributed some 168 billion baht (5 billion U.S. dollars) to the country, which increased 2.79 percent when compared with August last year, according to the ministry.

Some 867,461 Chinese mainland tourists, the largest group among foreign tourists, visited Thailand in August, which marks an 11.77 percent decrease when compared with August last year.

Fewer Chinese visitors? . . . thank heavens for that. It's not that we don't like the Chinese . . . it's just that there isn't any room . . . for Chinese.

Posters are missing the point that even if Chinese tourist volumes drop by 10%, per year, the overall year on year growth will still be positive - the only question is whether we will see lots more Chinese tourists in the future or whether we'll see lots and lots more!.

Many people don't like the Chinese. At all. There's not much to like. Of course they could care less.

Where did they get the figure of $5 bn from? I VISIT LOS frequently and at times I hardly spend any foreign currency as my host always takes care of me whether business or pleasure. Else I use my local bank account for my usual expenses.?

There's a number of organisations that calculate the average spend per tourist by country of origin, it's widely reported: http://www.thaiwebsites.com/tourism-income-Thailand.asp

That means that Thailand would improve at least 11%.

Maybe also cut down on the number of chinese owned tour boats, tour buses and tour companies that steal money out of Thai pockets then Thai people get blamed whenever there is an issue.

Not my type. White, silicones, meh. I used to think there was one good looking Chinese, until I found out Michelle Yeoh is Malaysian. Decade ago though.

You are kidding right?  1.4 billion mainland Chinese and 50 million living outside of China.  Not your type?  You take ethnocentrism to a new level.

Well guess that the Chinese are also concerned by the decrease in life expectancy when taking a boat ride.

Or any other activity other than a visit to the Mall, or one of the tailor made " Shopping Experience Outlets "

No he judges them by their looks. Most folks do that. Thats why I have no friends and am alone, so terribly.....alone.

I'll go to the 7-11 now and drown my sorrows in chemical laced microwave food. Not even a Chinese person will eat with me....?????

Well that pic doesnt show anything. All cats are gray in the dark. I need clothes and them to open their mouths ?

Why?  You mean different clothes change nationality?  No one can tell the difference between Asian women same as no one can tell the difference between European women.
