Drunken Security Guard Shot Dead

On the 10th of February at 12.30am Banglamung Police were called to the scene a serious incident involving a fatal shooting at Highway 7, Takientia Area.

Police along with doctor’s from Banglamung Hospital together with the Volunteer Rescue Squad quickly arrived at the scene and found the body of Mr. Sompong Boonsomtop, aged 30, who had been brutally shot 5 times in his chest, left arm, back and left leg with a suspected 38 mm. hand gun.

Not far away from the body Police found a motorbike with its engine still running.

The body was sent for an autopsy. A local community official told Police that he had been driving his car around the village when some villagers informed him that they had heard gun shots, so he continued to investigate and found the body of Khun Sompong.

The villagers told Police that Mr. Sompong worked as a security guard for a

Local Company named SC Gas. Earlier in the evening he had been drinking with his friend Khun Yia. They had run out of alcohol and he volunteered to go and buy more at the local grocery shop.

The last time he was seen alive was when he arrived at the shop and continued drinking alone. He then stated to the shop owner that he had to return to the village as his friend was waiting for him and left on his journey home around 9.30pm.

Police questioned Mr. Yai at his home, but he was in a very upset and drunken state.

Police assumed that the offenders may know Mr. Sompong and have opened a line of enquiry.

Further investigation continues.
