Stupid bloody Scot must have a death wish, how stupid is he?

Tanked up on drink and he is going to get the police.????

Your not on Byres road now jock.

Not a crime to be tanked up.

I agree, very stupid, an embarrassment to the good, mostly sober-living Scots nation.

Byre's road is rather nice these days.

Does anyone else think that if it were other Thai males approaching this noisy group would have not only been topless, but carrying machetes and other weapons and been far more confrontational?

They wouldn't have been topless and wouldn't have been so daft.

in Scotland people work after 6pm & become loud after 9pm from drinking.

Isn't that the same in other countries?

what does being topless have to do with anything

It shows they are clueless to Thai culture.

Just now, Kim J said:

" Scottish accent and appears to be drunk ".

Well what ever next? One could never dream of such a concept!!

I resemble that remark ????

I see topless Thai men in central Bangkok on a daily basis.

Surely you are not still living in a fictitious and fantastical Buddhist Kingdom of Smiles as propaganised by the Lonely Planet circa 1994?

It certainly is surprising that a Catholic priest would be seen in public with no shirt, but if it tickles your fancy, carry on.

On the face of it, that Scots guy is behaving ridiculously and foolishly. Anyone with any sense knows that one does not start yelling aggressively at Thais in the way the guy did here: firstly, it is downright rude, secondly, Thailand is after all the Thais' country (not ours), and thirdly this kind of behaviour can end up getting you killed.

To be honest, I feel really embarrassed when I see Westerners interacting with Thais like this. It makes me cringe.

On the other hand (and to be fair), I don't know the back story to all of this: maybe those Thai workers have been making a hell of a noise night after night, very late - and in the end the Scots guy just 'lost it' (as Thais themselves are wont to do). Everyone has their breaking point.

Nevertheless, I generally find that one will never get sympathy or support from Thais if one starts behaving like some colonial Master; friendliness, politeness and a smile will go a lot further. If that doesn't work - quite honestly, there is little one can do, as this is Thai society (the police are unlikely to side with us against Thais - unless one massively bribes them), and the Thais in a case like this are not going to change for us (even though we might wish it).

All together: a very embarrassing incident - one which makes me feel ashamed about some of my compatriots.

Pissing off the locals is very smart. ‘How to go missing in Thailand.’

Not the right approach but feel sorry for him as same happened to me built a 6 bedroom house and months later the land in front of my house became the black moon multi moon whatever they fancied having moon ,was so loud I moved to cmx .now it's defunct I'm happily living back in my house .if I had put all my eggs in one basket I would of really been in trouble so know how this guy feels ,you have no say phone the police and end up giving them money

I saw two lads with their tops off walking down Suk 16 on Saturday afternoon as I left Foodland. Absolute gimps.

Nothing to see here.

Thais making a racket annoying Westerners and possibly other Thais on holiday.

Told to shut up by a couple of Western men or they would be calling the Police.

A total non-event.

have to agree, why is this even being posted here? it's certainly not 'news' as the title suggests.

come on there must be a sub-ed vetting thai visa team content.

I’m gonna try that approach tomorrow morning at 530am when the village chief starts broadcasting to the village

He better have his ID card ready or else!

Garage owner fights back at topless farangs: You're trespassing on my property

A garage owner who was ordered by two belligerent westerners to shut up his garage because of noise has said he fears for the safety of his wife and child on his property.

One guy is either S.A or Rhodesian, and the Scot seems to have left a long time ago

Would have liked to see your reply if they were topless females

I have been trying to see  exactly why the headline mentions a topless Farang.  In this instance I don't see any difference between a topless Scot making a general nuisance of himself as opposed to a dressed Scot making a nuisance of himself.

What  Tosser, just remember your a Visitor buddy in this Country

By presumably reading and then commenting on it, don't you somehow feel that you have validated it?

Thaivisa thanks you for your click.

Okay, the Scot(s) were rude and abusive. On the other hand, most Thais have no consideration for their neighbors, especially when it comes to noise. I have no sympathy for the Thais on this one. Even though the Scots are drunk and behaving badly too.

Two idiots who have no idea . Don’t speak a word of Thai and they’re demanding ID cards . These low life’s should be sent back to where they come from .

What the ****. 2 men tell their neighbours to be quiet and it gets front page news. Get it together people.

I hope you're not that clueless Kiwi that never wears a shirt in Pattaya and shouts at the local police at the station!!!

Certainly not the right way to handle the situation, the Scott and his Soouth African friend..

Those lucky bloody farangs. They could easily have been beaten up very badly. They don't know how close they were. Unbelievable restraint shown by Thai men. As for the farangs, bloody pillocks.

Maybe the Thai men were scared.

The Englishman is talking quite reasonably, but the Scotsman is talking like a self-righteous presbyterian. When you move into a place in Thailand, have a good look around to see who your neighbours are, spend some sample nights there before you put any money down.

Two things Thais really hate: silence and the dark.

Later farang will wondering why more and more Thai people start to hate farangs !

Very soon farang will not longer be welcome in Thaïland...
