PHUKET: Motorists are advised to avoid using route 4233 (the Patong – Kamala road) following a landslide and flooding this morning (Oct 2).

The Patong – Kamala road was still blocked at midday after heavy rains led to a landslide and flooding earlier, Kamala OrBorTor Deputy Chief Nopporn Karuna told The Phuket News at 12.40pm.

“Right now there is a traffic jam in Kamala area caused by this flooding. The southbound lane (leading to Patong) is blocked by a big rock which we are trying to remove right now,” Mr Karuna said.

Hardly surprising looking at what has been done to the hillside along that road, although I would have not thought that particular location was the most likely to have issues.
That whole hill area is just sand. Nothing solid for foundations.
I showed some lands around there and due diligence has rarely passed without some under the table trickery or you're someone with power for building approval.
Nothing is legal around there but I won't mention names.
Titles are dubious to say the least.

Won't be long until we see a hotel on the road.

Little development along that stretch with the old Patong Mayor in power (too busy raising building heights in Patong. New mayor in and Kalim to Kamala boundary starts to get built up like the Riviera. Co-incidence, I think not.

All credit to the Kamala Orbator for addressing things yesterday- backhoes were out very quickly to clear the slips at the bottom of Naka Hill.

I preferred it like this!

No road to Kamala!.jpg

That bit suffered under the last big rain a few weeks back and repairs were not complete as of yesterday. I wouldn't want to be staying there.
