National police chief urges restoration of reputation of law enforcement dept.

BANGKOK, 8th October 2018 (NNT) — The National police chief has urged all law enforcement officers to help restore the reputation of the Thai police force.

Pol. Gen. Chakthip Chaijinda, the national police chief, recently discussed the policies of the Royal Thai Police with his deputies and police commanders from across the country.

Pol. Gen. Chakthip said that he stressed with all 485 law enforcement officers the importance of the restoration of the good image and reputation of Thai police.

He said that police stations, where officers work most closely with the public, must make sure all services are efficiently provided and executed, as the chief of any unit which fails to deliver a good performance and faces any complaints, will be subject to punishment.

Regarding the expected election in 2019, the national police chief has instructed all units to study relevant laws so that they are able to perform their duties effectively while asserting that the public shouldn't be worried about any officer’s prejudiced actions as such behavior will certainly be punished as well.

According to the pic, they surely look very interested in his suggestions.

The only way to get a reputation is to scrap everyone from the top down and start again

More less corruptible women would be the key but he doesn't want them does he.

You don't have to restore a bad reputation its always been bad

I didn't even know there is a such department.

The message hasn't arrived in Pattaya yet; the Bandits-in-Brown were busy on Klang yesterday & Tai today.  Lots of motor cyclists pulled but few cops had pens with which to write tickets.

This little gem has been doing the rounds regularly for as long as I can remember and  nothing ever changes. The rot starts at the top and there is absolutely no chance of the bosses making any attempt to change their ways.

Just to show their sincerity they could start with that senior bent police officer who collects 600,000 yearly from a prominent drink manufacturer.

Wikipedia reports "The RTP employs between 210,700 and 230,000 officers, roughly 17 percent of all civil servants (excluding military and the employees of state-owned enterprises)."

That's 0.2%.... statistically the message will not get through!!!

That this police boss doesn't see that he's on a hiding to nothing, going for this 'reputation restoration' approach, when the entire Thai population is laughing at the very thought that there has been even a sniff of reputation for the past fifty or more years, is beyond belief.

And, look at this guy . . . he's one of 2 or 3 who appear to be struggling to avoid bursting into laughter. Not mission impossible, Mission Absolutely impossible.

The big dogs message: popularity trumps job performance. Restoring their reputation would mean removing corruption and incompetence. That will happen when pigs fly south for the winter.

This topic is so quiet because NOBODY takes these people seriously. Not Thais, not anyone

Before I became a policeman, many many years ago I had to study the laws before I even could admit the police-force.

Every few years we had refreshment courses to maintain that knowledge,  did they ever studied one law over here, do they even know them self all the traffic rules or other laws?

Start with that, no knowledge of the laws?  OUT you go!

Well, bringing back and arresting the Red Bull killer would help in this restoration endeavor, especially as he killed a cop. However, this is all the true definition of a lost cause.

Can we add some credibility to it with some bank audits. Starting with you

Restore???????
Maybe they'll find all the backups corrupted.

If mandatory sentencing was in place for corruption, say 5 years, and if they effectively enforced/utilized it there could be a shift to the better. But that's a lot of ifs and besides, with the prisons bursting under the yaba effect you would have to build  a lot more to deal with this bunch.

Several days ago, I watched one BIB at Thappraya Road (Pattaya) and the overpass "check point, get on the back of the scooter with the farang driver and drive off. Very odd. ATM stop?

Are you seriously telling me there are only 458 policemen in LOS? So, who/what are the mongers collecting ambiguously coloured message enshroudments? Or did the other three not attend?

More than half the country would be locked up.

- stop having cops on road blocks harassing foreigners in the hope to get a bribe

- stop cops from having financial interests in brothels and other "entertainment venues"

- stop having cops racketing small and medium business in their beats or districts

- enforce all officers nationwide to do their job, investigate and handle complaints...and not only for the Thais but also to respect a bit more the rights of foreigners who are legally living in the kingdom and bringing in good money

- stop the "tradition" calling for paying huge amounts of money by police officers in order to secure a promotion

and maybe...maybe it would be a proper start.....
