Desperate City Hall Doubles Fine for Undeterred Sidewalk Motorists

BANGKOK — City Hall on Thursday said the number of motorcycle jockeys on sidewalks is almost unchanged even after more than 3 million baht in fines were collected from them in the past three months.

97 foreigners held in visa crackdown

Ninety-seven foreigners had been arrested in the northeast for overstaying their visas or working illegally, Immigration Police acting regional director Maj General Natthawat Kandee told a press conference on Thursday.

‘Fake’ lawyer held after visa probe

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's energy regulator has blocked PTT Pcl's <PTT.BK> bid to acquire power firm Glow Energy <GLOW.BK> from France's Engie <ENGIE.PA> for up to $4 billion, in what would have been the country's largest investment deal this year.
