October 12, 20187 yr Popular Post I think this is as much about corruption as it is soley immigration issues. Just how many were found/suspected to have "bought" their stay ?
October 12, 20187 yr Popular Post so nana area? were hundreds of old white guys rounded up to have their passports checked or just those fitting the 'profile' in the picture?

October 12, 20187 yr Popular Post There is a further report that 237 rogue pigeons were also detained by police, but this cannot be confirmed. Edited October 12, 20187 yr by Hayduke

The guys from EU, USA etc who are on overstay are more likely to be living quietly somewhere low profile and not in their 20's/30's hanging around in groups in public view.
October 12, 20187 yr Popular Post I'm kind of getting tired of this pre election "we want to look good" nationalistic abuse. They are just taking people off the street because it's picture time. I also don't agree with, "well if you haven't done anything wrong, it doesn't affect you" logic. Edited October 12, 20187 yr by lkv
October 12, 20187 yr Popular Post yeah right, chinese origin plump mr P sending his homeboys to chinatown where 1000's of chinese origin people: work, live and bingo ! they net 30 indians; before people say but theres a large indian community there too, yes but its called chinatown for an <deleted> reason folks; and not 1 chinese origin person arrested Edited October 12, 20187 yr by humbug

Many TV posters were jumping with joy when , a few years ago , when they started clamping down on the tourist visa runners , those who stayed long term on tourist visas . Now the clampdowns are effecting them, they disapprove of the clampdowns

I am staying long on tourist visas and that's not what concerns me, they can bl#w me as far as I am concerned since I am not on overstay. It's the vibe of a nanny state I am having a problem with, along with racial profiling, this coming from one of the most corrupted institutions, Royal Thai Police, and a non democratic administration. October 12, 20187 yr I just can't imagine what IDC looks like nowadays. 15 years ago was 50/70 to a cell. I did see see 1 cell with only 2 expat females in at the time.

Well on that logic it affects everybody, regardless of the type of visa they are on. So your logic is: "let's just stop everybody see what's going on?". Mmm. Great.

By the way, it's not called Chinatown because it's full of illegal Chinese! And most of them are Thais of Chinese extraction. What has Prawit's build or family origins got to do with anything? October 12, 20187 yr Funny how we've heard nothing lately, AFAIK, about what all these raids have meant in terms of impact on the IDC, and the extent to which all these people they're rounding up either are or are not actually getting put on airplanes for deportation to their home countries. They get popped in Immigration raid arrests, and that seems to be the last that's ever heard about that. Kind of makes you wonder, if all of them really do end up getting kicked out of the country, or just perhaps, manage to make some payment and then quietly disappear back to their prior lives.
