BANGKOK, 17th October 2018 (NNT) – The Prime Minister has explained that his decision to launch social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram is to stay in step with the digital era, adding that they are not intended for campaigning.

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha posted his first ever picture to his own personal Instagram account @prayutofficial after meeting with the 13 members of Moo Pa Academy Youth Football team and taking a photo with them. He said that along with the PrayutOfficial Facebook account, he wants to hear viewpoints from the public and receive recommendations or encouragement.

The selfie was posted with a caption saying that the survival of the 13 youth footballers was not due to good fortune but to their own discipline and determination.

A prior post on his Facebok page announced that he intends to use it to further communicate government policy and share useful information, saying as well that he will read as many comments as possible.

Meanwhile, Election Commission Chairman Ittiporn Boonprakong said today that while the PM’s social media accounts have yet to be discussed in detail they will likely not be seen as campaign tools. He assured the public that the commission is tracking the movements of politicians such as those who are in both the Cabinet and the Phalang Pracharat Party.

I hear hell's about to freeze over...

edit: Next week the PM will be a guest contestant on the BBC comedy programme 'Would I Lie To You'.

Can the public send him an eGraap?

No but they can send a suggestion about which snacks to purchase when he's next in Yorkshire: eBuy Gum.

adding that after mastering these he was hoping to open a ThaiVisa account .. Though probably under a different name ..

I'm sure that any creative suggestions about a username for the PM on here would get you banned.

Actually it was due to the selfless heroism of some foreign cave divers

It was their lack of discipline and determination to walk deeper into the cave that got them in the sh*t to start with.  They would have all died if it wasn't for the heroic efforts of the cave diving teams.  Pm is full of crap, as always.

As opposed to Prawit who is totally devoid of it, every time he has a medical emergency.

Damn-all to do with the rescuers, then.

I wonder if he knows that there are people out there who specialize in screen shots of all posts across all media by people like himself.  Anything he posts or tries to delete will have already been recorded to bite his bum later.

After so many borrowings from this fella, I wouldn't be surprised if the idea for Thailand to attack Russia in the wintertime is really that farfetched...

So Prayut i thinking everybody is dum an not able to see what is behind of all this action: he want to stay in power and as we can see he use any possibility for that!

He learned from Trump and he learned how manipulating these activities on social media can be as on the other hand side the government is fighting against social media users if they not follow the junta rules....

So to use it for " he intends to use it to further communicate government policy and share useful information" is nothing else than manipulation!

Yes, and the tremendous efforts of many many people, from many walks of life, and many countries, who came together to make it happen.

One person who didn't get involved was one General...

But impressive how quickly has he succumbed to the "social media lure" of being an expert! A true believer!

Likely a tool to weed out dissenters.
No doubt anyone posting anything critical will soon have a visit from the military and jailed under the computer crimes act for spreading malicious rumors detrimental to a happy society.
Love everything I do or your causing unrest.

Not seen as campaign tools be who? Anyone paying attention knows that campaign tools are exactly what these accounts are going to be used for, although no one else is allowed to use their accounts as campaign tools.
