Returning to Thailand 3 days before expiry of my retirement visa - multiple entry

Do I have to go to immigration and get 30 day visa if I am not going to renew my retirement visa?

That's not possible.

If you actually have a retirement extension of stay from immigration for one year and a multi re-entry permit and return with 3 days remaining that will be all the time you have - there is no option to obtain a 30 day visa from immigration.  Are you asking if you can enter visa exempt for 30 days rather than use your visa entry?  You could try.

To make it more clear...i have a multi entry retirement visa.(1 year)

it expires on November 15.

i am returning to thailand from Australia on the 11th of November.

I need to know what to do after the 15th November if i am not renewing my retirement visa.

as i would assume that after that date i need some type of visa to remain for a month in thailand

That doesn't necessarily clarify what you have.

Do you have a non-immigrant 'O-A' visa issued by an embassy that has a 'enter before' date of November 15th, OR do you have a 1 year extension of stay issued by your local immigration office and a re-entry permit that both expire on November 15th?

Note: Non 'O-A' visas and Extensions of stay based on retirement are both referred to as "retirement visas".

I expect you have an extension of stay based on retirement in which case:

  • You need to leave the country on or before November 15th.
  • You could do a 'visa run'. Exit/re-enter at a land border using visa exemption and receive permission to stay for 30 days, which could be extended by 30 days if necessary.
  • You could try asking the IO not to stamp you in using the re-entry permit and give you a 30 day visa exempt entry.

If you have a ME non 'O-A' that has a 'enter before' date of November 15th you will receive a new 1 year permit to stay if you enter on or before that date.

So what you have is a one year extension of stay and a multi re-entry permit.

Your extension of stay will expire on the date stamped on it even with the re-entry permit so you can apply for another year extension of stay with the financial and time requirements. Income 65,000 a month or 800,000 in the bank for 3 months or combination of bank and income equal to 800,000 for that year.

PS.

You don't have a visa.

You could ask the officer when you enter the country not to use your re-entry permit and get a 30 day visa exempt entry.

Sometimes they will even ask if you want to use the re-entry permit with only a few days remaining.
