Govt orders info integration to overcome agricultural problem

Vipaporn Pooritanasarn

BANGKOK, 27th October 2018 (NNT) - The government is endeavoring to come up with guidelines for sustainable problem-solving in response to low agricultural product prices.

Commerce Minister Sontirat Sontijirawong recently ordered every agency within the ministry to contribute to agricultural product management by providing product information to connect markets.

Plans must be made three months before products are launched into markets to see whether they will tend to overload the markets. Channels to expand markets into foreign countries must also be sought.

Moreover, it will be proposed to the cabinet that coconut should become a controlled product. Meanwhile, the Office of International Trade Promotion recently reported that demand for palm oil still exists in European markets, so exports will be quickly stimulated, and financial aid will be given for rice storage.
