A woman who initially survived after being buried under an overturned truck and its earth load later died in hospital.

She was named as Kamonlak Worasuk.

Daily News pictures showed the aftermath of the accident at Theparak KM 7 heading towards Bang Plee, east of Bangkok.

The truck reportedly hit a bridge barrier and overturned.

The driver is thought to have fallen asleep at the wheel.

Rescue workers found Kamonlak - aged about 45 - alive but unconscious. She died later in a local hospital.

A truck driver asleep at the wheel.  Well, that's a first.  NOT!

Horrible, sad.

Thailand.

Died in hospital.  Well, that's another one that won't be added to the annual road death toll.

Sad that a country can have 'fell asleep' as a viable excuse for killing someone

RIP sorry, few people care about these deaths in Thailand

It looks to have been doing a fair lick of speed also as the front axle is now right alongside the rear axle where it has been completely ripped off by hitting the low wall at the side of the road ..

It's just not fair is it?! You wouldn't expect anyone driving a truck to be falling asleep in the daytime as you go about your daily duties. RIP another innocent. Is sleeping now an official excuse for reckless driving causing death.

It appears to have overtaken "brake brain failure" as the preferred excuse

I totally agree but the driver may have been driving all through the night before he fell asleep in daylight. Probably did not stop to "swig" one of those energy drinks like I see so many do - including long distance bus drivers!

Who said that it was "viable" or even an "excuse"?  It was stated as the likely reason that the truck went off the road, no more than that!

Probably using yaba to stay awake until a mental and physical crash. How about a few years for manslaughter?
