Health Insurance,to claim or not

Featured Replies

I have health insurance with LMG and have been with them for about 2 years.

i have had fibromyalgia for years now but I want to get blood tests now to see if

hormone replacement therapy will help.

The tests will cost 10,000 and will have to be done 2 or 3 times then there is the

injections and visits to a specialist.

I don't know weather or not to use my insurance to pay for it.

When they asked about any existing health problems on the application form I said

muscle pain.

Is it worth using my insurance or would I loose my "no claims bonus" and end up paying more in the long run.

Would they pay for hormone replacement therapy for fibromyalgia and are there other issues that I haven't

thought of.

If you failed to declare Fibromyalgia when buying the insurance, it will not cover, if they find out about that you actually have had it for years.

I have never gotten a proper diagnosis of fibromyalgia.

I thought it was just muscle pain and that it would go away.

I told them about the muscle pain.

Is there an amount that people pay for treatment without claiming from there insurance. An amount that it would be better to pay yourself because it would be cheaper than loosing your no claims bonus.

There is also the question of whether they will approve Hormone Replacement therapy for fibromyalgiia.

I think that in the worst case you have paid for  insurance for 2 years and actually have no cover.

if you knew that you had the condition and did not declare it you probably voided the policy. Or at best have no cover for fibromyalgia and anything related to it.

it depends on the wording of the application form. Together with what you know and when you found out about it.

Talk to your insurance provider, they probably have a requirement that they are consulted prior to non emergency treatment.

My provider has this condition.

You say you have fibromyalgia but you declare muscle pain. Then you say you didn't get it diagnosed. How do you know you have had it for some years? They will link your muscle pain with the blood test and treatment you want paid.  And LMG is not known to be generous.
