New airports in Chiang Mai & Phuket

Does anyone have more information on this recent news announcement? I know it was announced earlier this year but I've not heard much else since then

No info on the new CM and Phuket airports but there is positive news on the new Betong airport in Yala, near to the Malaysian border.

Travelled to Betong a number of times in the 90's whilst working in Northern Malaysia and it was a very pleasant region to visit. Just hope that increased number of tourists (likely mainly from China) will not cause the area to lose it's charm. Faint hope, I know.

The original article says beginning of work in 2019.

Finalized in 2025.

So I think there will be no update in the general news sources.
