SONGKHLA, 8th November 2018 (NNT)-The Meteorological Department has issued a flood warning for southern residents as heavy rains continue.

Director of the Southern Meteorological Center of the East Coast Ms. Payao Muangngarm said today the low pressure system currently moving across the Gulf of Thailand has prompted a new round of flood warnings in many areas of the South.

Provinces that are likely to be affected by heavy rains until this Saturday include, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Surat Thani, Phatthalung, Songkhla and areas further south.

Local residents have been told to be extra careful when outside their homes as heavy rain could trigger flash floods. Fishermen should proceed with caution as waves could reach three meters high.

To stay safe, people are urged to keep themselves updated on the weather conditions on a daily basis by visiting www.songkhla.tmd.go.th
