OK. So I know I was stupid and, given personal reasons, very wrong. I was drunk and had sex with a bar girl without a condom. I have been living in absolute fear of HIV since doing this. (Especially as I have a beautiful family and wife here in BKK. Please don't tell me, I know I was very wrong)

Had several sleepless nights - and I could take the anxiety no longer. So today I went to a clinic in Silom, Pulse Clinic, and they checked me for HIV. I am negative - and the pure relief left me in tears whilst sitting in the doctors' room at Pulse Clinic. The procedure took 20 minutes and cost 800 baht and, thank the lord, I am free from this disease.

This is just my experience but I want to relay...... Stay loyal to your wife - don't have intercourse with bar girls (especially without a condom): the anxiety I suffered was horrible. Just don't want anyone else to go through that. Cheers. C

Not everyone is daft enough to imagine they caught HIV from a single encounter with a woman who probably wasn't infected.

I hope you are aware of the fact that when you took the test after only ‘several sleepness nights’ since the act, you are well advised to have your blood re-tested later on? It can take up to three months before HIV shows up in your blood.

And yes, this was about two months ago and, according to Pulse Clinic, is 99.4% accurate. I am very happy with that assessment.

i did not think you could get the test results that quickly. id would of been more concerned of catching other STDs and passing them onto the wife.

This is the OP. If I were you I would have an HIV test. The results are accurate and available through blood testing from 21 days after exposure. This is according to the doctor at Pulse Clinic, who is a specialist in HIV. I know the risk is low. But it is a risk where the consequences are dire, especially if you have a family that relies on you like me. Thanks. C

Sorry, but clinic name, location, cost, how long it took to get results etc are irrelevant to the narrative.

I waited more than six weeks. Tests are accurate after three weeks (according to HIV specialist I talked to).

No, I think it is relevent. I was very scared about the whole thing. But they were as nice as pie and as professional as I could have hoped for. Made the whole thing very easy. And very quick (20mins). And cheap (THB800). Just want to highlight how easy the whole test thing is.

Pal of mine has HIV, consequences don't seem all that dire to me, 2 pills a day, can eat and drink what he likes.

Cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, dementia are diseases with dire consequences, not HIV.

I've known people with all the above, if I were forced to pick one to have it would be HIV.

 

PS had HIV tests the last 2 times I moved a bar girl in with me (long time), and the last time I had a child.

(250bht each at CM RAM for the moving ins, 250bht at the government hospital for the pregnancy)

I agree, years ago I did the same silly thing. Had to wait 6 months for the final results, mainly HIV result.

..what he is experiencing is 'Afraids'..  common condition when one thinks they have been exposed to HIV.. more likely to get STDs..   another test in 40 days is advised.. as the virus doesn't develop in just a few days and is undetectable immediately..   sorry...

I hate condom sex. I have screwed many bar girls without a condom. I don’t fear HIV. Leave your judgments for a PC country like the USA. Thailand sex is great. What a puss@ post IMO. Grow up

That is being quite irresponsible and selfish, you could be infecting the girls or getting them pregnant and your only concern is yourself ejaculating without a condom .

   Extremely selfish and you can have no complaints if one of the girls gives you a STD

UK guidelines state that 4th generation HIV tests (antigen/antibody) will detect 95% of infections four weeks after exposure. A negative test after four weeks then needs to be confirmed with a second test three months after the risk. This is in case you take longer than four weeks to generate an antibody response. You should take that second test too.

If you and she showered before and after and you are convinced this is what she always does, you are probably OK.

 

In general they have good habits.

It's his guilt complex kicking in - and the realization of what he'll loose if his wife finds out because he as a STD. He's so worried about HIV he's forgotten all those other juicy STD which many bar girls do have and do transmit.
