I am living with my Thai girlfriend in her home. Tomorrow we are going to the immigration office to apply for a Proof - of - Address document for me. We have called the immigration office but can not get a straight story as to what documentation we need to bring.

Suggestions greatly appreciated!

proof from the registered house owner that you live there ,

copies of owners ID card signed , copies of house papers signed , etc ( never can you have TOO many documents )

if you can get the registered owner to front in person .........so much the better

good luck

Immigration normally issues them to persons on extensions of stay. If not on an extension of stay you might have better luck using your Embassy.

I received a certificate of residence from Immigration just by asking for it.

i had to fill in the form and give 2 photos ID per certificate

They needed a reason for the use of the certifictae and it was included with my adress, visa status and passport details.

(I needed the certificate for driving licenses)

They did not ask for any papers from the house but in my Immigration file (for the extension of stay) there is a letter from the EDmbassy saying that I declared my adress in Thailand as xxxxx

I recently applied for a "residence certificate" or "proof of address" at Suan Plu last Friday. You go to Room 205 (90 days reporting room), and they give you te application form to fill out. There is no fee for this. They finish the certificate in less than 2 weeks & if you leave them a stamp self addressed envolope they are happy to post it out to you.

I was doing this in conjunction with having to pay a fine for late 90 days reporting. I am sure you usually need copies of your lease agreement etc. but they did not ask this from me. All they wanted was a copy of passport/visa/arrival card & the return slip of the 90 day report, after I had been to the downstairs cashier and paid the late fine (2000B).

Speaking of which, all the staff in 90 day reporting are very nice & helpful. They were almost embarassed that they had to make me pay the fine. Very good people to deal with.

Cheers,

Soundman.
