Yes I did get the free to marry from my embassy with the stamp on it plus certified passport copy. They mentioned now waiting for them to check with my embassy before we get an appointment to come back in. So much for the 1 day process? Is this a new policy?

Thanks in advance for knowledge from the wise ones. I have been here with same lady 13 years and they are wondering why take so long? I am afraid my paperwork will expire they said no problem ha.

I had a similar problem at Bangyai Amper.

All our paperwork was in order and witnesses present but they had not processed a foreign wedding before ( apparently ) and tried to put a lot of false obstacles in the way.

We left the office, took a taxi to Bangrak and were married two hours later including taxi time.

Bangrak specializes in marriages and providing your paperwork is in order there are no problems. They even provided two of their staff as witnesses as we did not want to impose on our friends to come with us.

thanks I think that is what we are going to do. How much did you pay for the witnesses? What time did you get there sorry to bother you. Appreciate [t.

The marriage documents have to go back to the M.F.A. in Bangkok to ensure that they are legitimate. Banlamung Amphur is doing the same, they will call you when they get the documents back.

It was several years ago so I don't remember all the details briefly the first thing I needed was a letter from the embassy to say I was not already married in the UK. This original document then had to be translated into That by a recognized translation service near the embassy.  Next, had to take the original plus translation to immigration on Chaeng Wattana to have it certified as genuine.

Next, along with the other needed documents ( forget what the rest were but the above was the most bother ) we ended up in Bangrak without our genuine witnesses. At Bangrak they were most helpful and sorted out a few minor mistakes in my wifes documentation ( regarding her ID card ) . It was understanderbly busy there but there is a queue system and we were quickly seen to. As for the witnesses , two of the government officials working there , we had to give them a few hundred baht each ( wasn't much ) and it was all done very quickly.

I would imagine that since they often provide the witnesses throughout the day they are on a nice little earner if they collect a few hundred baht each time.

As for documentation you could get your partner to phone them first, explaining you are not a Thai, and ask what the current requirements are. Or you could just turn up with what documents you have and they will let you know if you are short of anything.

Good luck.
