Telling that there are, apparently, no protests from the foreigners' respective governments about the death sentence. Good riddance? -

Winning The Trans Debate: Balancing Victory with Integrity
I'm not entirely sure I agree with your assertions here. Puberty blockers were introduced in the early 90's so have been used with very little controversy for over 30 years. It's only been the recent politicalisation of it mostly by right wing politicians in an every increasing attemp to insert even more identity politicis into the public discourse that's it's now become a 'thing'. The 'hardcore supporters of trans rights' you mention have only had to become more 'hardcore' to combat this extremism. You've seen it before with the Suffragettes and the Civil Rights Movement and more recently MeToo and BLM - people are forced into becoming 'hardcore' when their rights are being eroded and the trans movement is certainly under assault right now. -

Introduction to Personal Income Tax in Thailand
I have a query which I hope yourself or someone else may have some insight. I import money via a Foreign Currency Deposit Account. At what point does the money become assessable ? When I import it or when I actually convert it to Thai baht ? A few years back there were a few threads relating to the bank deposit guarantee being reduced to 1,000,000 baht. It was stated that foreign currency accounts were not covered and one reason cited by a poster was that the foreign currency is technically held offshore. IF that is the case, when would the TRD view it as assessable, hence my query? I will not be tax resident this year but may be next year. Should I convert my foreign currency into baht before this year ends or convert at leisure next year and maybe fall foul of a TRD ruling that the money is assessable only when actually converted to Baht. Thanks in advance for any thoughts. -

My wifey lost her job
I’ve never quite grasped the fuss myself. I know plenty of guys married to Thai-Chinese women, including those from wealthy families, and it’s really a non-issue. Yet somehow, there’s always someone eager to inject a dose of reverse snobbery into the mix. It’s baffling, really, back home, men marry women from all sorts of backgrounds without anyone batting an eyelid. But in Thailand? Suddenly, “white-skinned” Chinese-Thai women becomes unattainable in some people’s minds, and anyone claiming otherwise must be a liar. Then, of course, comes the reverse snobbery, neatly shoehorned into the narrative: remarks about “pasty white skin,” accusations of being snobby hi-so, or the tired trope of not being “real Thais.” It’s as if they can’t help but project their own insecurities onto others. I don’t think it’s jealousy, per se, more likely a cocktail of misplaced stigma and self-inflicted inferiority complexes. Whatever it is, it’s an odd little quirk of expat life that seems to persist no matter how ridiculous it becomes - Marry an Isaan farm girl and you are both salt of the earth, Marry a Chinese-Thai girl from Bangkok and you are either liar and / or she is a characterless snob (or something similar).- 1
