Donald Trump has upended millions of lives in his first 50 days in office
Even before Trump came into office, there's been many articles about how baby boomer retirees are reluctant and cautious about spending out of fear of unknown expenses such as long term care and senior health care. Just think about the layers of uncertainty all this talk about cutting social security and medicare and medicaid is adding to the equation, not just for beneficiaries but for their family and friends, and people they do business with. Is Aunt Betty going to be evicted? Ask me for a loan? Not be able to pay back the money she owes me? Will my benefits arrive on time next month? The price of this psychological torment on consumer sentiment and spending is under appreciated. My social security was interrupted a couple of months ago because I supposedly didn't send in a proof of life form (which I never received), but I can just imagine what impact something like this would have on someone living month-to-month, or if it took six months for benefits to be restored after they were suspended. The thing I find so distasteful about Trump, Musk, and DOGE is the contempt they are showing for government workers and people who rely on the government for assistance. If government needs to be trimmed, run more efficiently, or if belts need to be tightened, you can do that in a way that minimizes disruptions to people's lives. -

Inflation Cools, Showing Trump is Right and his Critics were WRONG AGAIN
That's why they had to combine Defense spending in that category, LOL. The Turbine Jet Engine is the most complicated machine on Earth. Japan has been trying for decades to build one, unsuccessfully. Boeing squandered their lead when they agreed to be managed by another manufacturer who was ran by accountants and lawyers. They fired all their senior engineers and outsourced to $10/hour freshies just out of school in India who had no clue about DO-178 safety requirements. Embraer is pulling up. Airbus has nice equipment, I have flown many times. Personally, I like the cabin better than the Dreamliner. But equipment wise, can't comment because I am not a pilot or European, so because Airbus is biased against Americans working on their equipment, never saw the internal software structure there, either. And Comac in China is gunning for Airbus. Don't get so smug. Everything is temporary, man. 😄 -

Mixed Reactions to Viral Video of Phuket Police Restraining Foreigner - video
Brilliant from the cops. Ask yourself would these tourists behave this way in Dubai or Singapore? So why do they feel embolded to do it Thailand? Thailand needs direction to stop messing around with a soft approach (oh won't someone think of the negative tourism headlines) for misbehaving tourists who spoil it for those who have spent hard earned money to enjoy themselves responsibly. Too often, especially under the current adminstration there has been a tendancy to back away from any disturbance for fear of headlines. No wonder Thailand has descended into a horrific mess, with social media awash with tourists behaving appalling.
