Warning of more wet, windy weather ahead

Heavy rains in various parts of upper Thailand since Friday night caused flooding in areas of Bangkok and central provinces on Saturday morning, while the Thai Meteorological Department warned of more thundershowers in the Northern, Northeastern, Central, Eastern regions this weekend.

In Bangkok, heavy rains were reported in various areas since Friday night and the Nong Chok district on Saturday morning reported the heaviest cumulative rainfall at 24 millimeters, while Setthakit Road's two inbound lanes of Wat Khlong Kru-Big C Mahachai section in Samut Sakhon's Muang district were flooded, causing traffic jams.

The conditions were due to a strong high-pressure system that covered upper Vietnam, Laos and the South China Sea and the southeasterly winds bringing humidity from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand to upper Thailand, the weather department said. The southeasterly winds also caused isolated heavy rain over the Southern region.

The weather bureau also said that, during December 11-13, another moderate high pressure area from China would extend to the Northeast of Thailand and the South China Sea bringing cool weather, with temperature drops of about 2-4 degrees Celsius, and strong winds to the Northeast, while the Central area, including Bangkok City and vicinity provinces, would also see temperatures drop by 1-3C.

Looking at TMD weather radar, there is not a drop of rain falling in northern Thailand.

You can count the drops? Wow!

Rained last night in mae sai.

At least this time is was only No. 2 out of the traps

Amazing, that nobody has blamed Thailand for this weather (maybe they have, only read the first few responses).

The entire year has been misery. I hope the next decade it won't rain a single drop. Starting to grow gills.

Either way the rain does not bother me. The cool air this system is bringing with it does matter though. Some of the nicest days in bkk for a while.

Same here on Phuket.  Temps. have been low for a long time as a result of the wind and rain ????.

Clear with puffy cumulus clouds in the Chiang Mai area.  A little windy, but quite pleasant out.

Still waiting in CNX For the last lot of PROGNOSTICATED Wind and Water to arrive.

Time they got some new Darts to chuck at the WEATHER Guessing Chart.

Overcast, but no rain in Nakon Phanom so far

I know. It rained two kilometres up the road yesterday and I'm sure I saw on the forecast clouds above our house. How can they possibly get it so wrong.

Because they are trying to predict what nature is going to do and nature is unpredictable at all times and it is not only in Thailand that this happens

I was being sarcastic, did you miss that???

Sitting on the patio with a sweatshirt on; drinking a nice cold Leo.

Mulled wine next!

So it's raining in Thailand. At times heavy rain. Wow, that's newsworthy!

Thought this was a weather topic and f a to do with road safety or lack of?

Welcome to Thai visa where every topic will be jacked to moan about traffic, cops,

the inevitable yet "hilarious" mentions of brown envelopes, the low moral standards

of its citizens coupled with the poor education.

Every Thai male is named Somchai and he will gather 200 of his compatriots to beat

an unsuspecting farang just for breathing, because they all hate us.

Back on topic, heavy rain yesterday in Pathom Thani....
