The bosses are in on the agent-money.  Forget it.  I was close to 50 and had a similar experience with my income-letter - "income" was not even on the fake-list of requirements they printed out and ha

This was more or less my solution a few years back, but got a multi entry non-O and doing 90 day bumps rather than try to deal with what appeared to me to be a case of corruption, trying to strong arm me for 16,000 baht to make a mysterious problem go away.
I have been told, also, that Jomtien sometimes has a case of the "difficults" on the family side, vs by the (known) book on the retirement side.

You don't need to get a new non-o visa. You only need to change the reason for your extension from marriage to retirement.

Yes ubonjoe, but I don't have 800000 baht in bank right now.

Getting a non-o visa would give you more time. But apply for it based upon marriage.

It is much harder to get one for being 50 or over for retirement. You would need to show the 800k baht in the bank to get one and in Vientiane they want a police clearance and medical certificate.

I think end of januari I will drive to Vientiane and apply for a single non O retirement visa since I'm older than 50. After that I can apply for retirement extension at Jomtien

why not apply for a multi 'married' non 'o' at savanakhet, easy to get and not a lot more, that puts off dealing with immigration ofice  for a while.

He would have to do a "visa run" every 90 days  so still have to deal with immigration.

There is deffo something going on in Chon Buri immigration, I went last Week and after queueing up was told to return after lunch, we arrived Before 1pm and there was 30 people ahead of us?

after going through all my paperwork I was told I could not apply more than thirty days ahead, I mentioned that most agents say they do it at two months before expiry date ?

I was then told to apply on the 24th of December ? thirty four days before expiry ??? and that was that. they make it up as they go along.

getting worse I think. oh and my quest was for renewal of extension of stay (retirement) all docs/paperwork ok.

They have been extremely busy in the retirement ext section, I too was sent away and told to come back in the afternoon. It is peak season and there seems to have been a rush on, people trying to get it done ahead of the end of letters, as you seem to want to do. The usual time limit in Jomtiem is one month early, maybe 45 days, if you have a reason and proof of it.

Chatting to the lady returning my passport she confirmed it has been very busy since the 11th after the holiday.

I have been told Xmas day is a good day, usually not busy and they are dressed up in Santa hats!

Border-immigration is only a problem at a few locations.  It's the family-desk and Non-O stamp desk at that particular office which are the problem.

As well, he could switch to a 1-year extension during the last 30-days of any of his Non-O-Visa entries, when the money is in order, and/or the border-bounces are getting tiresome.

I wonder if they'll except some  "figgy pudding" instead of a TIP ??  ????

He does not need a multiple entry non-o to get enough time to have the 800k in the bank for 3 months.

A single entry non-o would give him almost 5 months including the 60 day extension he has now. Then he could get another 60 days at the end of the 90 days from the non-o if he needed more time.

Ok I will follow your good advice, thanks ubonjoe.

Yes I believe I did, I felt they were being particularly restrictive over that period due to the rush that was going on, struggling to process the numbers so attempting to reduce them by not accepting overly early applications. I knew of one done in November there that was nearly 6 weeks early.

yes I totally agree, with just a slight difference, I have observed before Thai

people in many walks of life, appear to like to lord it over Farangs if they

see an opportunity. I had all my paper work done, she had checked all my

stuff and everything was in order, when she brought up the thirty days, I

showed her my flight booking and then she came up with 34 days ?

the details were new bank letter and statement go to immigration on Christmas eve and collect my passport on Christmas day oh and no doubt

I can only get my passport after 2pm...how can it be ok for 34 days but

not for 40 days? when a Thai person is in charge...and wants to show you.

Only thing I can say is WOW! What has it become .....
