In the place I grew up there wasn't any real Mexican so Taco Bell was the place where I had my first ersatz taco. Also don't ask about what happened in the parking lot (much more memorable). Yeah, a lot of us spent our teen years in the Taco Bell parking lot late at night - true, spicier than the Taco Bell hot sauce. Taco Bell is the original fast food "Mexican," and sure, maybe it's not, nor ever has been real Mexican food, but even a fast casual place like Chipotle recently hired the CEO from Taco Bell to turn the place around because it is a monster of a franchise, serving more than 2 billion customers/yr. So, they do know how to run a fast food Mexican operation, and that is all it is. Nobody ever claims it's real cuisine, in the same way that nobody thinks a Burger King or Carl's Junior is a gourmet burger. Obviously, I do not plan to eat often there because of calories and health reasons, but sure, bring it on for the times you have fast food Mexican urges that won't go away, and you're not in the mood for proper Mexican. Anyway, there are few good Mexican places in Bangkok (I've tried them all) (and prices are high), so Taco Bell is a welcome niche fast food. 3

Then I'll use about 15 or more packets of sauce. If I thing about it, I'll bring along some roasted and ground Thai pepper for some heat.

direction BANGKOK
The only reason i ever went to taco bell was to get a cheap (bad) burrito. I am guessing the cheapest burrito on the menu here is going to be 150 baht. Well, if they get del taco and in n out over here it is really going to start feeling like home, which i am not sure is a good thing.

bendejo
Finally! A solution to the low cholesterol problem in Thailand! the 60-seat restaurant will feature an open kitchen Never thought of fast-food as coming out of kitchens, factory is more like it. The same corporations that provide fast-food franchises also market products for indigestion - funny how that works out.

A few of examples are taco shells, sour cream and cheese. I think that actually explains the crappy quality of all the franchise pizzas in Thailand. Only the boutique pizza parlors who charge a premium can afford to use a decent portion of real cheese. The high cost of non-indigenous ingredients, coupled with the atrocious rents on BKK real estate. Edited December 25, 2018 by impulse

DJ54
I’m a fan of some of their food. Late 60s early 70s surf HB and hit taco bell on the way home...... cheap and my sister worked there so extra food. When I fly into LA hit up taco for hard shell taco. Its ok for quick and easy but real Mexican food is easily found in Southern California
EVENKEEL
At Makro they sell a small box of hard taco shells for a crazy high price, so yes expect Taco Bell to sell at a higher price than the US.

Its ok for quick and easy but real Mexican food is easily found in Southern California Look, I lived in Phoenix, AZ. The ne plus ultra for fast food Mexican there IMHO is Taco Mich, of which there are several locations, some 24 hours, especially in the West Valley. Fabulous Birria by the way. English is barely spoken. You go there at 3am and you wont see a gringo. But Phoenix is a big place and its like a 25 minute drive in no traffic from the East side where I lived, to the West side, where the Barrio and Hood is. The Taco Mich on 27th and Camelback is great at 4am, but you risk your life, some ratero tried to rob it one night and the owner popped a cap in him right at the entrance. So at 3am, you either: 1. Go to one of the other mexican fast food joints and get overpriced stuff (meh) 2. Hit Taco Bell. Cheap, quick, filling and a stoners delight. Number 2 is for me!
