Manager reported that a Facebook user had posted a video of a burning lantern falling on a gas station in Chiang Mai.

The poster was furious about the potential danger to the public while they reported that regulations are not being adhered to.

The poster "TopMonkey Cnx" sahred the video to "Jangwat Chiang Mai" saying:

"This was a celebratory New Year lantern - it was lucky that it was extinguished in time. These things cause a lot of trouble. People setting them off have fun. Traders make money out of their sale. But no one takes responsibility when things go wrong".

The story was widely shared and Manager reported that regulations that exist are widely flouted and should be more stringently followed with prosecution for those breaking the law.

These lanterns are a flaming nuisance.

Obviously a tourist let this missile into the air, the same ones responsible for 12 deaths in 7 days of hell.

As with most things in Thailand, the regulations are not the problem....the lack of effective enforcement is !!
