Just as the shutdown during the Obama administration I have noticed no change so don't furlough them, fire them.

The ranks of man-child supporters sure are full of deep thinkers!

Yeah, sure fire all the TSA agents and air traffic control people. Uh huh. Do you think they'll work for free forever? Or is your post pro-slavery?

"They" can't.

The Defense budget is not a slush fund for discretionary POTUS spending.

Congress approves funding for specific defense programs agreed upon by Congress and the POTUS. Any budget reductions in any of those programs belong to the US Treasury and the property of Congress as representatives of the American electorate.

A POTUS not getting specific funds from Congress is not a National Emergency, it is a Check and Balance against an autocratic spending behaving POTUS.

Well, then I stand corrected.

Why not just allow military air-traffic controllers in to replace overworked civilian controllers, like Ronald when he broke the back of their labor union.  Since the non-crisis at the border has created other true crises in government, such as personnel issues, let the military step in to fill these other issues as well.  They will all be in place when the coup is declared.

And just who do YOU think will declare a coup?

Following along that line do you think it will be Trump, and if it is, do you think that the military will follow his orders, or simply ignore him?

If they ignore him, what can he do about that?

If we can't find people to work these jobs we could always just hire undocumented workers to do these jobs for a fraction of the cost right?

You're lying.  Perhaps when you say something like "Pelosi's own words", you should find them online and link to them like this:

[Pelosi] was asked whether there’s any scenario under which Democrats would accept “even a dollar” for new construction of Trump’s border wall.  “A dollar? A dollar? Yeah, one dollar,” Pelosi told a group of reporters just off of the House floor. She later seemed to rescind even that offer. “We’re not doing a wall. Does anybody have any doubt about that? We are not doing a wall. So that’s that,” she said.

Shes's talking about A WALL.  Not "extra border security", as you claim.

Your lie #2: Democrats don't want more border security.  The reality:  If they don't want a wall, what are Democrats' border security solutions?

Democrats have rejected President Donald Trump's border wall as ineffective, expensive and immoral. So what are their solutions to border security? Among them: Better technology. Increased hiring for ports of entry. Improved infrastructure, such as fencing.  Democrats also unveiled legislation last year to expand refugee processing in Central American countries and to disrupt drug cartels.

A wall is a stupid, massive, wasteful project that will be easy to bypass and end up being even more expensive in its upkeep.

Also, if you could stop lying so much, that'd be great.

"A wall is a stupid, massive, wasteful project that will be easy to bypass and end up being even more expensive in its upkeep."

If that were indeed the case, no one in Congress (Republicans and Democrats alike) would have ever in the past provided funding for the parts of the wall that do exist. If one listens to the border enforcement people, the ones that really work on the border and who try to enforce our laws, one would learn that building a solid barrier (wall, fence, whatever) is part of a security structure which also includes electronics, people, etc.  By having areas where a wall (secure fence) exist, the Border Patrol can then focus on areas without and on entry points to stop drugs, etc. from entering the country.  I'm perfectly fine with not building a wall, if the Dems want to provide funds to increase Border Patrol personnel so there can be a man every 10 feet along the border 24 hours a day with machine guns.  But that ain't going to happen as that is surely immoral also. To the Dems, everything considered to stop illegal aliens from entering the country is immoral, but forcing the American taxpayer to fund health care and education for every illegal crossing the border is okay.  What is needed is a total taxpayer revolt so those SOB's in Congress will stop the lunacy.

The Dems stance is not about the lousy 5 billion dollars, it's simply a political stance to oppose Trump's agenda, and everyone knows it.

A very harsh rule established by idiotic politicians, should they be Rep's or Dem's....and finally it's the common employees who suffer....a nasty way to treat many devoted federal employees...

There is no rule , trump will not sign an appropriations bill unless he gets a wall. The government can be opened tomorrow if he removed the "Wall" requirement.

I wish he would declare a "national emergency" so that it becomes the problem of the Judiciary.

Although it was awkwardly worded I believe the poster was referring to tying normal govt functions to various unrelated issues by having to confirm funding at ridiculously short intervals.

That's what happens when you spend all your money "liberating" people all over the world and you have nothing left to liberate your own.

It will get worse before it becomes better. If it ever gets better.

, IMO the plans is to make as all, either directly or indirectly, debt slaves. If it hasn't happen already.

He will disrespect them on Twitter.  No one can withstand the blistering taunting of being called "little" or "horse face" or fat.  If he doesn't get his wall anything is possible; after all, he has admitted to knowing more than the generals.

Except, the majority of the American public who blame Trump and the Republicans for the shutdown.

^Any thinking man would object to Trump's agenda, because it is not based on well-researched, well-formulated, well-articulated policy. His agenda is based on largely unsubstantiated sensational fear-mongering.

30 Democrats in Puerto Rico with 109 lobbyists for weekend despite shutdown.  The politicians are working hard.  Sen. Bob Menendez on left

If I saw her, I know I would walk straight and avert my eyes until the last possible few seconds when she wouldn't expect it; and give her a good 3 sec stare when she is not expecting it, with no one to block her or others attempting to view her and let my wife pass in front with a hidden camera when we make this risky move.  Others may use use other methods to mine "data."

For a president driven by optics he has ensured himself a place in history as, if nothing else, the president responsible for the longest gov't shutdown.

Of course, this great accomplishment would pale next to "first president to be led from the White House in handcuffs"  or "first US president to be displaced by a military coup."

Some speculation out there is that after 22 work days government workers who have been furloughed on the government shutdown can then be RIFed with 60 days notice. Currently, this would mean enormous RIFs at Commerce, HUD, EPA, HHS, Labor, Smithsonian, Nasa, Energy, SBA, and Education. Good news is that the State Department is virtually unaffected. So the people who no longer issue us income affidavits in Thailand and who now insist we get our passport renewals through the mail, instead of bothering them at the embassy, can keep on doing their work, whatever that might mean.
