Latest story scuttling around in semi-hushed tones is that the riversides ( both sides, ) on the other side of the bridge from where Bella Vista was washed away is going to be a park area extending quite a way inland.

The bit that they have just cleared and put a retaining wall around has a for rent sign on it.

Don't know if that would be a good deal. When BV was washed away the water level was way above the level of that land, at least 1.5/2.0 metres up. Was told it was high enough to remove BV's foot bridge.

Thaiwatsadu has been open for several days now. I was there yesterday. Nice addition to the area. New PTT is being built directly across the street from TW,,,,,,,replacing the aging PTT that was there. Progress on the HomePro on the other end of town too

Two new hardware stores, what about a decent supermarket and some sort of shopping mall?  Tesco doesn't qualify in either category!

^Seconded. The Banchang outlet is probably the worst Tesco's I've seen in Thailand. ????

Would be nice if Villa or Foodland opened a branch nearby.

????

Ah, the stuff that dreams are made of.

????????

I heard for years that there is a local "strongman" that stop development of all supermarkets in BC to save the "mom & pop" stores. Must have no interest in building supply stores though ????

Look for this image in the protected shops.

The Expat mart is a bit of all right in that department, not quite as stocked Villa or Foodland but not as expensive either!

^Yep, agreed. Sid doing a good job with the shop, stocking pretty much everything I need. Running out of excuses to go to Pattaya now. ????

The "Seri Frozen" frozen food shop on the same road does some good stuff, too. Fish and steaks well represented. Little goldmine.

Yeah the Argentinian Beef from Sid is awesome, a few different cuts available.

^Same side of the road. 400m East of Expat Mart.

Correct name is "Siri" Frozen. Here's the shop front:

Pretty much aimed at Japanese and Korean customers, a bit pricey,

Not really improvements are they?... its urbanisation due to the explosion in industry and population that is imminent.

At present it appears some businesses are moving in in anticipation of the large increase in foreign mangers expected as well as a general increase in the labour population and house building.

Whereas mega infrastructure maybe in place one wonders at the capacity of local systems to cope.

Open area diagonally opposite 7/11 situated next to Royal Place apartments where the old watermelon shop was is now boarded up and a 7/11 sign displayed. On the way to Phala down the U Tapao road left side, area boarded up and 7/11 sign displayed.

Like busses we wait for one to come and then they all

come at once !

Banchang especially must be nearing "7/11 saturation point" already? Mini-Mart central..

By the sounds of it it appears that soon you will be able to hold up your order above the garden wall 7/11 will see it and pass it over the wall to you.

Yes. same side as 7/11

Yeah about 50 meters north of the 7-11 same side. The site seems just big enough for the store but no parking and the street will end up more congested. Will not be a pretty site to drive there at certain times of the day,,,,,,,,,,another bottleneck and danger zone to stay away from. Too bad they cannot plan something and make it better.
