Suspected Robber Arrested

On the 23rd of February at 12.20am Police were informed that a suspicious male character had been spotted on the beach next to the Island View Hotel.

Upon arrival Police found Mr. Samarn Pomthong, aged 21, who told Police that he had been walking on the beach and spotted this suspicious character on a motorbike.

Volunteers went to see what was going on and this suspicious character then made a run for it into a grove, leaving his motorbike at the scene. He was eventually caught and was taken to Pattaya Police Station where he was identified as Wichien Garnsang, aged 32. He told Police that the reason he ran away was because he thought the group may attack him.

After a search, Police found 7 banknotes of foreign currencies and some credit cards which did not belong to him.

Wichien confessed to police that he just been released from a remand prison for 3 months after pleading guilty to his last crime at Mr. Mac Apartment on Pratamnak Hill where he got away with 80,000 Baht and a computer notebook.

Wichien was detained in custody for further investigation.
