Pheu Thai party’s election strategy chief Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan vowed on Tuesday to lead the party to election victory to replace the “military government” with a “government which is specialized in economics” to bring a better life to the Thai people.

“Today we are not in a period of world war which warrants national management by soldiers and tanks, but we are in an era of trade wars which require professional administrators with economic expertise.  We want a government which understands the problems of the people, understands the new world order and looks to the future and the economic opportunities for the Thai people,” she said.

The Pheu Thai party today submitted a list of 97 party-list candidates to the Election Commission, with Khunying Sudarat being placed in the second spot after Pol Lt-Gen Virote Pao-in, the party leader.

I hope so they are the only party that can govern properly this country... An this time they'll be probably backed up not just from the people...

Please someone should interview all these people live on TV (or youtube or fb) and ask them about their relation with the criminal fugitive:

- When did they last time directly or indirectly communicate with Thaksin?

- What did he tell them to do?

- Do they admit that Thaksin controls the party?

- Will they work for the criminal or for the country? It's only one or the other.

And obviously the journalists should ask and ask again if they get some stupid answer. These puppets of the criminal should be exposed. We really don't need another Thaksin government.

bet their astoundingly broad and deep understandings will vanish the minute after being elected and actually having to fulfil their limitless promises

Oh lordy, another one who "vows' to do this that and the other. Wonder if her "vows' will be a meaningful as the previous puppet?

Specialized in economics - yeah, like rice schemes and export orders!

In a free and fair election a PT win would've a no brainer but this not one of them.

PT lost the Don Meauang 'Safe Seat' in a by-election whilst in power; and the Bangkok Governor election.

No brainer - yep, your comment is! Nothing certain in politics, ask Theresa May.

So you have no problem with a kleptocracy, nepotism, self enrichment and lack of transparency? Indeed, you call it "governing properly"!

A police officer at the very top? Yes, that's gonna work. After all, policemen in Thailand are renowned for being extremely accomplished economic specialists, particularly when it comes to their very own economics.

I fear the upcoming election will be no different from past ones; a mere scramble by all these loudly vowing people for the best spots at the feeding trough.

nail, head, hit. Spot on! Sadly.

Did you mean just like the current government promises dating back to 2014 of stopping corruption, reforming the police, naming the election date in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and finally managing to have one in 2019, though it has been delayed a bit this year.?

How about the bringing happiness and reconciliation to the Thai people?

Is that the sort of (un) election promises you are talking about?

You have all that already with the current government yet you seem quite happy with that.

Do YOU call that governing properly.

I would hope for someone who is honest and competent. That reduces the number of possible candidates considerably.
