Im looking at various flights and Aeroflot is always popping up as cheap and efficient. How is riding with them these days on major routes? Cheap Russian airplanes with Goats in the aisles?

Hopefully better than the time I boarded only to find that where my seat should have been there was, 'er.... nothing but an empty space.

It is fine. I did fly with them to BKK a few times - no issues whatsoever. The Economy Premium is quite attractively priced, compared to Lufthansa etc.

IIRC there was a thread here on TV exactly on the same topic. Lots of input there.

Their aircraft are fine, quite modern and well maintained.  The problem is the cabin service. Most of the aircrew are ex military. make of that what you will. As ex military myself, I could not possibly comment.

Used them 1,5 years ago, Phuket-Moscow-Amsterdam and return.

Moscow airport was not nice, unfriendly, not enough seating, but Aeroflot was fine and I will happily use them again. No alcohol served on Phuket-Moscow and vv part BTW.

I feel compelled to respond. I recently used this airline to fly from London to Bangkok with a changeover at Moscow. The flight out was on time but both aircraft had no entertainment and did not serve alcohol.

My return flight however, was late arriving into Moscow which made me miss my connecting flight to London. They issued me a flight for the next day. I waited in the terminal for 5 hours before they got a hotel. Checked into hotel and mo more than 4 hours later had to check out and rush back to the airport to get connection. Total delay time was 13 hours plus i had a very expensive coach ride to my final destination.

Suffice to say i will never fly with them again.

On a positive note there was some entertainment on the return flights but they do not serve booze so if you like a tipple on your flights you can forget it.

Oh, i raised a complaint with the airline directly and they haven't even responded. 3 weeks ago.

I said it before but here it goes again, they changed planes to Airbus and Boeing no more Topolev's but they still are a RUSSIAN company and that says it all

A look at the opposite direction (Thailand - Europe return).

I am watching prices to Germany (Berlin in particular) regularly.

Fortunately I am not tempted to use Aeroflot as Lufthansa group (LH, Swiss, Austrian) beat the Aeroflot prices.

And that are nonstop legs to a European destination.

Even Qatar beats them now (that's a novelty).

But whether you want to be stranded in Doha instead of Moscow?

Just did a search for Bangkok - London return for some arbitrary dates in low season month of June.

Aeroflot at 31324(!).

EVA nonstop at 23300 (booked at the airline).

No second thought!

(at least in this direction)

A friend flies them regularly and says internationally they are fine, with modern Western planes,  but domestic flights within Russia still leave something to be desired. They are a part of SkyTeam Alliance from memory.

Aeroflot

actualy quite good from Amsterdam to Moscow no entertaiment because it is a line flight.

traveling in  Russia  t o many destinations also no entertainement  ,

but these days most have a Phone or i pad or music.so can do self no problem there

if u travel regulaire   then the entertainement guide is also boring   S.o.s.

food on Aeroflot is pretty basic but like most airlines if pay a little expect little .

u can order food while booking and this works fine like other airlines .

Moscow airport Sherevemeteva   is some waht old if you know the wayis ok like all airports

buisness classis good and a good seat and the service is nice and the food is ok inclucing alchahol

Traveling and alchahol dont realy mix an do nee many problems with people other than russians on planes

Amsterdam Moscow is ok can get out and have a walk then is 7 + hours to Bkk getting in at 8 30

i traveled last month in econemy comfort from Moscow To bkk was good and is a better  class than econemy also the food  .

so totaly up to the individual   flight delay is Always a problem but i think all airlines have this problem and sometimes they can not help it .

Gulf Air from LHR to BKK is really very nice on 'Dreamliners' which are less than one year old.  The airport at Bahrain is tiny, so 90 minute transfers are problem free, bags always turn up in bkk. Food, staff, wine, entertainment are all superb. However, prices have gone up with new fleet of 787's.

I have used the EVA flight to London many times and found them to be excellent.  Cheaper than TG plus a premium economy option.

I used to date a girl in Manchester (UK) who was cabin crew on Gulf Air. She was half Greek half Ethiopian and gorgeous. Unfortunately, they changed her route and she said if we were to continue I would have to move to Bahrain as she loved it there. Thinking back I should have moved ????

I thought it was great, as the aircraft was gaining  height the cabin crew were coming down the isle with a trolley full of vodka

They are my favourite airline, but I would say that, as they were my employers for a good few years. Still get discounted tickets so it's always Eva for me.
