Workers can call in a strike if the wages are not increased. No need to set minimum wage.

Yeah, that'll work:

"IndustriALL said Thailand failed to guarantee the rights of freedom of association and collective bargaining to about 75 percent of the workforce, leading to it having the lowest unionization rate in Southeast Asia at 1.5 percent.

“Workers are frequently sacked for being trade unionists or trying to bargain collectively,” the statement said.

“In cases where the courts have ordered workers to be reinstated, companies often ignore the ruling or put intolerable pressure on workers to quit. In other instances, court proceedings drag on for so long that the workers are forced to accept a payout and resign.”

Hopefully, he's upside down in hell, swallowing gallons of sewage! 'Red robbo', Jackson, Knapp, and soon, pray to the almighty - Pig Scargill and all those others others who engineered to bring the UK to the state it's in now by their communistic treason.

Yes I would like 360 bts a day, I am not interested in increasing my productivity. I don't work if it rains and I work slower if its hot, I also wont be there is there is a death in the family or I had a night with Leo and chums, now where is the money?

Thailand has the most unequal wealth disparity in the entire world, so yeah, it's the poorest and most vulnerable that are ripping off the system and getting more than they deserve.

Peanut.

Are you suggesting paying unqualified, sometimes even inexperienced, tradesmen here the SAME as their Western counterparts? Most tradespeople in developed countries have undergone serious training at college and / or apprenticeships, have passed exams, have proven their abilities in both tests and on the job. They have to adhere to very high standards of workmanship AND safety, both of which are practically unheard of here.

They deserve a higher rate of pay for this plus the cost of living in Farangistan is generally higher than here.

first of all, the person PICKED the company to build his house. so, do some due diligence on the company.  if they are unqualified and inexperienced, don't cry to me because you don't speak Thai, as if that means you can't get proper people.  if you live in a place without skilled labor, again, not my problem.  nobody said paying them the same.  i'm saying AFTER you find good workers (yes, it's implied you just don't pick anyone) that you can pay them more than a standard wage.

fly a guy from the States over to look over the project after he gets a work permit, whatever.  you cut corners, not my problem if your house falls down.  people come here, want things cheap, and then complain forever.  if people in general are too lazy to research the company.....well, don't complain.  everything you said changes nothing.  you aren't going to help people get certified.....so, to everyone who hires the brother of a friend for 300 baht and then complains, not my problem.  find the right guy, pay them more than they want, and that's what i'm saying.

You're saying an awful lot, but each post is making less and less sense. Obviously something got lost in translation.

If you go back to your previous post, the one I responded to, then read my response to it and your newest post, you'll find that you're all over the place.

According to a recent BBC report the richest 4% hold 96% of the wealth, I agree its not right, how has this happened? Its happened in other countries as well the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

When I was at work if I wanted an increase in pay I had to justify what I was doing and the extra responsibilities I was taking on to get the increase. Here I see a lot of laziness and yet they all want more money for doing less, can't blame for that but you want more do more. Across the road from me new houses are being built, the bricks arrive and are stacked in nice secure stacks then the workers come along grab and armful and throw them into a bucket to be transported, could not care less. They arrive on time but don't start on time 0800 and at 1630 they are in the back of a pick up waiting to leave so to put it in a nutshell, short time workers and do not look after their employers possessions or the quality of the work ( using brokem bricks ) and that just one example.

I've never really understood the concept of a standard wage, as if all workers are equal.

Pay them what they are worth, or they will (or should) leav

Bar  trade , offers bigger money more , cashiers ?,cleaners ?   and lady can take care , all above minimum wage .

Better than working in a paddy field , can meet farlangs , good heart .   Same same win lottery .

Of course 5gey can strike.

But as came out last time, prices went up when the raise was advertise, and went up again when the raise was official.

Besides that lots of jobs were taken from Thai people and given to foreign workers for lower wages.

A strike will mean that all available jobs will go to foreign workers.

That is why employers are so fond of daily foreign workers.
