The retired general, who is in charge of national security, also dismissed concerns that the spat between Seri Ruam Thai party leader Pol Gen Seripisut Temiyavej, a former national police chief, and Army Commander-in-Chief General Apirat Kongsompong might spiral out of control and culminate in yet another coup.

Coup fears were fueled by a billboard in the First Army Region showing a remark made by Seripisut on TV which reads “Had it not been for the last coup, and if the then prime minister had been a career politician, I would not have been appointed the national police chief.”

“There will be no coup,” said the deputy prime minister with a laugh, adding “There is nothing to be worried about.  Everything is fine and moving toward the election.”

"There will be no coup."  Isn't that what the current, unelected PM and coup leader said over and over?

who would believe anything this guy says ? exactly the wrong kind of people in authority

  • Army big boss Apirat Kongsompong has recently appeared out of nowhere and been making almost daily intimidatory appearances in the media. If that doesn't mean something I don't know what does.

There will be no coup, says Ole Fatty, looking back over his shoulder.

The next lot are just waiting ready to pounce.

Seems to be more like a game to these people - coup and then counter-coup:

"My elite are better than your elite"

Army big boss Apirat Kongsompong has recently appeared out of nowhere and been making almost daily intimidatory appearances in the media. If that doesn't mean something I don't know what does.

His promise to place Army troops to stand vigil over the ballot boxes is surely a reminder to voters who really runs the Country.

Could he be arrested for corruption after the election?

It should be noted that in the vast majority of developed countries you wouldn't even think of a coup being a possibility. Trying to perform one would be treasonous. But in Thailand it's business as usual.

To think some buffoons wanted this mob in charge and thought (and some still think) they were a better option.

????????????

Starting to get the feeling we may all be longing for a return to the days of Prayuth after getting a taste of this Apirat character after the next coup.

I believe him ????

There will be no coup, unless there is a need for a coup...  The need will depend on things like:

- did all the gerrymandering and "fixing" the constitution have the desired effects - PM Prayut?

- are the majority of the elected representatives deferential to the wishes of PM Prayut?

- Is the new leader threatening order by reforming the military and professionalizing it?

- Are any current surplus of generals being "left behind" (i.e. forced retirement to downsize)?
- Is the "elected" government getting in the way of the right people getting their dividends and contracts?

etc.

ring bling ? have you forgotten the bling watches...

Infamous last words?

Am I the only one who thinks he and the arrogant front man of this horrible boy band should have their corpses dragged through the streets of Bangkok?

I've said this before, but until Thai's have the same epiphany that the South Americans did 20 years ago, and the Junta Generals start ending up in orange jumpsuits, it's a Lakorn that will go on endlessly

The potential of an Apirat Regime is simply terrifying, he is baying for blood and he has the blessing from above.

This man Prawit is truth itself. If he tells me the watches he wears being to a dead guy then I believe him. If he says no coup the I believe him. If he says the the rich will start helping the poorer of our country and everybody will be basking in happiness, then I, for one, will believe him.

I genuinely did laugh out loud at this. My sense of humour (along with On The Buses of course!).

Obvious for months another coup is on the cards....this country has had almost 30 in the past 70 years so due another one...comical but very frightening seeing the changes in the past few years under this junta

Yes.  People must not 'cross the line' - or else.  Where and what is the line nobody knows.

Imagine the chats he overheard from his Dad and friends around the dinner table when he was growing up.

Scary sense of entitlement.

That's a reluctant 'No' from me, I'm afraid.

A trial in an international court under the existing (arbitrary) law(s) the junta imposed on their own citizenry would be adequate justice. We are and ought to be better than these gangsters.

However if the people were to finally snap (which they won't), who could blame them for seeking a little retribution?

  • Popular Post

If the anti-junta parties form some sort of coalition to control the lower house, thus blocking any policy decisions from the government, there’ll be a coup
