Ex-TRC core members vow to fight on against junta

Core members of the disbanded Thai Raksa Chart party vowed today to carry on with what they claim to be a fight for democracy and to launch campaign rallies across the country against the National Council for Peace and Order.

The group, which includes former TRC’s electoral strategy chief Chaturun Chaisaeng, former campaign manager Natthawut Saikua, Weng Tochirakarn and Korkaew Pikulthong, announced the setting up of a group called “Next Step for Democracy” to mount campaign rallies to resist the junta’s bid to retain power.

Chaturon said he felt sorry about the dissolution of his party by the Constitutional Court, resulting in the disqualification of all its candidates and the banishment from politics for 10 years of the 13 executive committee members.

Here we go again, the streets were getting a little boring lately, nothing like the army out on the streets to quell a demonstration to liven things up.

If they believed in democracy so much what on earth were they doing proposing a member of the Royal Family as their PM candidate? They knew full well she would be above criticism in Thailand. No transparency or accountability there.

i remember seeing that jerk Nattawut on stage when the general broke up the rally in Bangkok and him first hiding behind a woman and then running away and later found hiding under a cloth covered table

all this from the man who urged reds to bring molotoffs  to Bangkok to burn it down

what a brave man he is.

Wasn't that to run

And was not Chatchuron heavily involved with the airport scanner corruption scandal?

National Council for Peace and Order.

name doesn't fit their actions, if they are a council of peace and order they should act accordingly without contradictory remarks/actions/posts/polls... just let the people decide

Are these words translatable into Thai? they are not terms that can in anyway be associated with the Thai political arena. :shock1:

I am new to Thailand but I soon picked up that Thai girls use the expression  ' he /she  didn't think that far ' .

Seems they didn't think ....at all !

I think you'll find that was Suriya, the uncle of Thanathon, the founder of Future Forward. The uncle founded the junta's party, Palang Prachachart, but apparently all allegations of corruption involving him and the scanner have been cleared already.

Mark Twain said 'if your vote really mattered, they wouldn't let you do it".

No he did not, it's one of a number of famous quotes attributed to people who never said it, Voltaire being another with that old line about defending your right to free speech

It was dissolved very late in the day IMO and the dissolution would not have been orchestrated from else where would it?

They made a wrong move which was not queried straight away and now they disqualified does not add much to democracy here I am afraid just par for the course.

Where will their supporters go now?
