Exemption For Work Permit Taxes

Featured Replies

Hi fellow expats

A friend of mine told me that the Thai government granted farangs with a work permit 2 year exemptions from paying taxes. Does anyone out there have any clue or idea what this exemption is or if it even exists?

My friend's not sure where he heard it from. Any info is greatly appreciated

thanks, J-Bangkok

Cock and Bull.

But tax is only about 15%, and you should declare an income commensuraste with other farangs doing similar work.

Talk with your employer or accountant.

By treaty, anyone involved in education or research can be exempt from Thai taxes for the first two years. So, in this limited situation, it is true.

It is common for teachers to claim this special exemption.
